Five arrested after allegedly traveling cross country to rob Bitcoin from local teen
quote:
Five men have been arrested by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly plotting to invade the home of a local teenager and steal nearly $1 million in Bitcoin cryptocurrency.
quote:
Rainwater said that on Jan. 29, 2018, four suspects – Trivette Adams, Matthew Schwartz, Jacob South and Michael McDermont – were located by the sheriff’s office narcotics unit in a local hotel, allegedly in possession of zip ties, latex gloves, duct tape and bandanas, but were released shortly after due to “insufficient evidence that a crime had been committed.”
quote:
Rainwater said that the four initial suspects had allegedly been “staking out” a local residence and were caught before they had a chance to carry out the plot. “They knew the premises, knew the routines of the occupants,” Rainwater said. “They had everything figured out.” He said that their intended victim reportedly had up to 80 Bitcoins, which could have been worth up to $800,000.

No.
They were likely going to kidnap him and force a transfer since they had zip ties and all that.

If the teen was not a moron and I assume he isn't because he has 80 btc. Wonder how they got his private key to what I assume is a nano ledger or something. Or were they going to kidnap him as well.

If they had this, they probably didn't need to physically be there. Unless the guy has an offline wallet.

Wouldnt be hard to trace the transfer. These dindus wouldve been caught after the crime if they hadnt been before.

If he has that much btc he'd be an idiot to not have an offline wallet.

No, but from my understanding you can download your Bitcoin to a "Bitcoin wallet" which is basically like an external hard drive and store the Bitcoin offline to keep it safe from hackers. Long as the wallet is unplugged from a computer, its not vulnerable to being hacked.

False. Untraceable. Thats the one of the main selling points of Crypto currency.
