Perhaps, but those were Bham City cops blocking traffic. Funny how they can be used to protect some people painting a public street with a political statement, but can't protect city landmarks like the Bham Theatre or the Lyric from being vandalized during the riots that Funnymaine incited.
I love Bham. I was born and raised here. The Bham City gov't is a joke and has been for a very long time. The growth the city has experienced in recent years is IN SPITE of city leadership and not because of. Business leaders and a younger generation longing to return to urban living have been responsible for Bham's new direction. If we could just get rid of the leadership and political apparatus, Bham would thrive.

If the people there don't want them, then they should be able to remove them. It seems simple enough to me.
I'll be curious to see if there is blowback at some point. Will black memorials be subject to removal in the future?

I'm suspicious of Woodfin, and I don't like it that any special interest group gets a billboard on our city streets, but anyone that thinks that any of the past Mayors would have prevented the statue removal and quelled the wilding that night during the protests is just mistaken.

They definitely wouldn’t have gotten in the middle of the crowd and directly ask them to stand down, promise to have the monument removed within 24 hours, and then deliver on it.

Langford may have. He rarely missed an opportunity to be the center of attention. Not sure he would have delivered on it though.
