The kidnapping happened early Friday at a home Stephens was renting on Crest Road in Birmingham.

This dude's family is worth 4 billion dollars. What is he doing renting a house? Is it just some rental where goes to do hookers and blow or what?

Wrong. Alys was his mother, the wife of Elton B. Stephens, Sr.

There is almost certainly more to this story. Elton Jr. has always been kind of the black sheep of the family and was not heavily involved in the family business. Just coming off another divorce I think. And I found it odd that he has retained Spina, the criminal defense attorney quoted in the article.

where they had him wire $250,000 into their account

But they had him wire it in small, unmarked bills so that it couldn't be traced.

I mean I wouldn't turn down $250k, but that's not necessarily enough to retire away on a beach in Mexico for the rest of your life.

Some of those houses look pretty high-rent.

Of course I'm comparing them to what we have in BR.

Yeah, the company is run by the younger son rather than the namesake.

The father was an impressive guy. Started with nothing and became a billionaire. Worked hard and smart.

Great American

Without question. The guy didn't just get rich though. He used a lot of that money to do a ton for the community. His son Jim, also a very impressive guy, ran the company, then Elton Sr.'s son in law. Not real sure what management looks like now.

$250,000 is a lot of easily accessible money for even multimillionaires.

He probably couldn’t quickly get his hands on more without making calls and raising some red flags.

If there is more to the story $250,000 might have been his play money, and the couple were familiar enough with him to know what they could get quickly.

I'm going out a limb. She went home with the old man after a night out and called in the pimp after she slid the old man a nighty night. They had to wait til he came to before moving to the next phase of their master plan.

If he is smart, these losers will meet an untimely demise in prison. Send a message to anyone else considering such shite that he is not to be messed with.
