In regards to the IO they are mostly cops and they try and act like outlaws, until shite gets real, then they pull out badges and call on duty cops to bail them out. The 3 piece thing is silly imo but I don't belong to any club so I really have no say.
Word I'm hearing on those dudes is supposedly they're kicking out all the cops and will sew diamonds on their cuts here soon. We'll see I guess. If they do make that move, shite will hit the fan.

Only bike I'd ever own. The reversed throttle would kill me though.

Thanks. I figured they were mostly referring to clubs like Iron Order (which I've learned is called Urine Oder by everyone else
).

Yeah they're pretty much despised by everyone.

Ah. I remember my first trikey

An old high school buddy of mine is a detective in DC, and he and his friends have a three piece patch club, but it looks to be mostly cops. I thought that was odd.
Iron Shields or something.
They have the look and he talks like a biker, but yet I know he's a cop.

You ought to read a couple of Rebel's books, he is an excellent writer.

It's on the clutch side though.... That's just weird.
The one above isn't.
I've always been told the throttle was on the left on the old army Indians. My knowledge is really limited to dirt bikes.

Yeah there's a ton of "cop clubs" out there. In da t the biggest MC in the world is a cop club called the "Blue Knights" or singing like that. That claim to have close to 20,000 members worldwide.
Some cop clubs are alright but they tend to be shunned by the rest of the MC community and stay to themselves.

I'll check him out.
Another question: I occasionally see people wearing "Support Your Local 81" shirts out here (west coast). They don't look like HA's, just normal folks. If a "civilian" were to wear that shirt in say, Texas, would they get beat up over it?

Yeah anyone can go online and buy HA support gear. As for wearing it in Texas, bad idea. Texas belongs to the Banditos and there's not what you'd call a lot of love between those two clubs. id leave the 81 support gear at home if I were riding through Texas.
ETA: One thing you've got to understand is there's two types of MC gear that people who are not full patch members can wear. There's "support" gear and then there's "event" gear.
When someone is seen wearing "support" gear that says to anyone who is a patch member of any club that the wearer is a support of and most likely is associated with whatever club's support gear they are wearing. For most clubs, only close friends and family members of that club wear support gear. However, some of the big clubs, like the HS's for example, have started selling their support gear to the public as an extra revenue stream.
Then there is "event" gear. This is usually a tee-shirt that a club will sell or give away to people who attend a open event of that club like a ride, rally, or something similar. All that shirt says is "Hey, I attended so-in-so" and does not denote being associated with that club.

Darth, are all the guys in those MCs from Sunday's shooting criminals?

I'm in TX so we're getting a lot of coverage, too early to tell but it almost seems like a semi set up, the owner of the TP(who had franchise rights pulled) sounds like he has some connection with the bikers, the cops knew about it in advance, the TP owner wouldn't cooperate with the cops, and it it almost looks like the cops had an ambush type formation set up, I know it's too early to tell but that's sort of what's coming out

I have no doubt at least some were criminals. But I'm also sure not all who were there are criminals.
There's a lot about what happened in Waco that does not add up. Before we jump to conclusions I want to get the full story of what really happened. To be honest, right now I don't think we've got a fully truthful account of what went down.

I don't know it to be fact but I believe I read somewhere that some army bikes had throttles on the left because most people shoot right handed.

Yeah, that's what I've been told too. Can't imagine trying to shoot a Thompson while piloting one of those.

I guess my question extends beyond Waco. These clubs are recognized as organized crime by the government so I assume there is a strong history of criminal behavior but are all of the members expected to contribute in some criminal manner?
For example, in the mafia, the lower ranks were expected to bring in dollars through various schemes. There were no members that didn't have at least a somewhat shady means for obtaining money, whether it be bookmaking or theft.
For a MC such as the Bandidos, Cossacks, etc. are there guys who are just in them to ride?
