My late grandfather's best friend visited Germany at one point in his life. be After my grandfather passed he came to our house with a box and said that my grandpa always told him how much I loved history and especially WW2 so he wanted to give me some Nazi artifacts. That box contained a large Brass German eagle holding the Swastika mounted on a thick solid wood plack, an official Werhmacht officers dress dagger, and an Iron Cross medal with ribbon. I still have everything locked away safe and sound.
I also own a Mauser k98 rifle dated 1944 used by the German army. While cleaning it I found very old dried blood under the metal butt plate. I didn't clean that off just carefully replaced the butt plate and quietly hoped that blood got on that rifle on the battlefield and not in a camp.
History should be kept close to the present. So that we may learn the lessons that it teaches us. So that we may not repeat the horrible mistakes of the past.

Good God. You're one lucky sob. That's amazing. I'd love to have some wwii artifacts.

In another 50-100 years or so when WW2 is a little less fresh on our minds I think that stuff will start being openly collected and be worth a LOT of money.

Came for the WWII intrigue, stayed for the puns.
Now I'm off to breakfast at Waffen Haus.

Yes I'm very lucky to have what I have but man I wish I could have a lot more. But hey ain't that true for all of us? Lol
Man if I ever got a position to be a caretaker at a WW1 or WW2 museum/collection that would be the death of me. I'd forget to eat and drink. I'd probably last a week, then they'd find my corpse in the back somewhere holding a cleaning rag and Patton's revolvers in one hand and the Kaiser's sword in the other lol.
But to comment to another poster yeah some of these relics are already very valuable. My officer's dress dagger is going for about $800 right now and it's not really that rare. But that's the thing really, all German army officers were presented with the same type of dagger. Idk if mine belonged to some Captain on the Eastern front or a dang Field Mashal. Love the mystery behind historical relics.

I almost bid on some Nazi Storm Trooper boots (with Hobnails).
Were they slip-on or lace up? If they had laces, did they tie them with a bow or little knotsies?

Not going to lie, I'd love to have a lot of that for the pure historical value.
Take my edelweiss and never admit that publicly.

I always found it interesting how many of the Nazis went to south America when their shite came crashing down. what would make them pick that continent to resettle?...
Some people will go to great lengths to avoid paying a huge gas bill.

Amazing to me. Heil does stuff like this simply become lost to history?

Now that you mention it it would be funny to see the American picker guys stumble into a nazi collection.
