Only somewhat related to the thread but I always like to look up record snowfalls and winter weather history when it snows in nearby or unusual places like Galveston or New Orleans. Check out the most recent snow event under the notable events section of this wiki page. Somebody is dedicated...

WTF? back to straight sleet again... It is coming down hard too. If this would have been all snow, I think it would have rivaled Dec totals... I am not trained...

Nah he lost.

Zachary, new roads, st Francisville have decent accumulations PLUS he called for maybe a couple of slick spots. The whole interstate system is shut down

I’m right by MSY. Nothing but frozen rain as I type this. I was just outside with the kids scraping ice off the windshields.

Roads are so fricked

Unfortunately, I can vouch for this in BR. I had to go from Claycut/Jefferson area to SE BR (near Highland and Jefferson). I just got home about 20 minutes ago. It took about 35-40 minutes, where it should have taken 15-20. The roads are slick as shite. It's that crappy ice/sleet/frozen rain mix. People from the North make fun of us for reacting to weather like this...but what they don't understand is that mix makes roads trickier than just a bunch of snow. It would be much easier to drive if there was just 6 inches of snow on the ground. I saw at least 3 vehicles in ditches along the way. For the most part, the other drivers were taking it easy and there really wasn't much traffic at all. I averaged 25-30 mph on the trek. There was the occasional a-hole with a big truck and a small penis who would zip past me at a high rate of speed, but besides that, everyone was trying to be careful. And there was some precipitation along the way...it seemed to be sleet or frozen rain, I guess, with maybe a little snow.

TL; dr: It is cold as a motherfricker out there and the roads are a bitch. Stay off them.
