Ethylene Glycol is made from Ethylene Oxide. Some of the EO is used to make EG in such a process unit, not all of it.

Triethylene Glycol is the coolant not EG. Most of EG is used to make other chemicals. Coolant grade is distilled from the overall EG product stream and only a fraction of it

Weird, live near the Iberville line off of Nicholson and didn’t feel a thing, neither did any of the guests we have staying. Not sure how we missed it.

I'm in the Preserve and my wife had no idea. Still early enough that she got pissed when I asked "what was that?"

So, an EO pressure vessel went boom this morning supposedly?

Overpressurized? Leak to environment that set off chain reaction?

Curious I’m bored this morning before the football kicks off

Good call, I forget about the London games. It’s all about the redZone channel though.

Rando, how many compressors were tripped at the entire site after the KABOOM?

Is there more than one EO/EG unit there now? I remember when the EG part of an EO/EG plant was taken down in the early 90's because the one in Taft was much more cost effective. Dow engs thought theirs was far better than UCC's but after looking at the numbers post merger were very mistaken.

IF PSV failure then obviously over pressured and burst. It decomposes rapidly when exposed to the atmosphere

I'm normally a 4AM riser because it is quiet without wife wanting something and interrupting my work. I "slept in" til 7AM CST. It was great.
