Most cyclists I know have the attitude that they have equal right to the roadway.....and they are paying a deadly price for that mindset.

They need to ride with common sense but they tend to provoke.....like not riding single file on a busy road. To prove a point? Good luck...

nice generalization. this was on a federal park road at 10am on a saturday morning.

as someone who has ridden this exact stretch of road THOUSANDS of times in the last 20 years, i can tell you i see maybe 1 or 2 cars total on a saturday morning.

and i'm glad you're taking up for the hit.run.liar.

If you're gonna ride in the street at least go single file.

In Tennessee you can legally ride two by two. I'm pretty sure it's a state law that also permits a single rider to take up a whole lane on narrow roadways.

No matter what your opinion on cyclists may be, there was just no reason to hit that guy. Driver of the car could have waited a few seconds and passed in a passing zone, with ZERO impact on his day.

I ride (or did until recently) 7,000 or more miles a year for many years. I and the folks I ride with stay to the right, single file, as a rule. I only take the lane when at a stop sign/red light, or when there is a narrow stretch where if a car passed me I'd be in danger, and then I get over to the right once through there.

Only one time did anyone start to give me shite about that: I took the lane over a bridge, then got over. guy behind pitched a fit and pulled over up ahead and got out to wait for me. I rolled up, he started, I told him (a) why I did what I did, (b) that's its perfectly legal, and (c) pointed out he lost more time pulling over to start shite then he did behind me for the 15 seconds or less I was in the lane. To his credit, he said he didn't think or realize that, apologized, and left.

Natchez Parkway

Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?

watch the video again. first truck passes in the other lane no problem.

he AIMED for the cyclist..no other explanation and the fact he made up a lie to investigators tells me everything I need to know about his motivations.

eta i know several of the guy who was hit's friends and we're on a small email group discussing this. there is apparently evidence of this guy doing the same thing to other cyclists and that's probably going to end up coming out as well.

Any cyclist that rides that far out in the lane is asking to be hit.

Regardless, I'm 250lbs+ with gear going 20mph. I don't yield to a 3mph hiker.

250lb humans should not
1. Jump on Trampolines.
2. Mountain Bike on trails.

You gone break something.

Hey baw, there's a Sonic near my trails if you want to meet up. Beware though, I wear gloves when I ride so you won't be able to check my knuckles

Driver is a dickhead, but driving in the middle of a road like that on a bike is ridiculous, regardless of Tennessee's stupid laws.

That's with gear. Bike, pack, water, etc. account for ~30lbs.

I do have an XL frame with 29s, but that's also bc I'm 6'8", which is also why I usually clear out all the spider webs with my face bc of you short fricks.

Pretty much every state's laws.

Methinks it's not cyclists who act arrogant or entitled, but instead drivers who are uninformed and impatient.
