I don’t care if they ride in the street, just follow the rules of the road. I almost blasted some hipster on his cruiser when he was riding through a red light. Then the a-hole yells at me for almost hitting him…

Regard for other people’s time? Let me tell you whether I’m driving or biking on the road I truly, truly don’t have regard for your time.

I do however drive below the speed limit all over town because I have regard for your life.

But your time? That’s your own responsibility. People who are late always seem fail to understand that. As boots garland would say transfer of blame is America’s favorite pastime. Your time is your problem.

Bicycles are not feet. Feet go on sidewalks where people walk. Bicycles either go on bike lanes or on streets. If both cyclists and people driving vehicles would just be respectful of one another, it would not be an issue, but since everything has to be an issue and an argument, and a power struggle these days, you see both cyclists and drivers behaving badly. The problem is less to do with cyclists or drivers as it is with humans in general. That’s the condition you should be finding a remedy for.

It's illegal for bikes to ride on a sidewalk in just about every town, city, and state in the US.

In EBR it’s only illegal in business districts. Perfectly legal to ride on the sidewalk in residential areas.

I’ve seen both motorists and cyclists do a-hole things on the road. The two shouldn’t mix, tbh but I don’t agree with forcing cyclists on sidewalks.

Most cities, as part of surface street infrastructure projects, are installing dedicated/protected bike lanes. This is the right answer that doesn’t cost a lot of money if done right.

I can't fricking stand most cyclists. They want to be treated as equal on the road, which is inherently a problem since they are on a foot-powered bicycle. But my biggest problem is they want to treated as equal, yet they also want to not follow road laws properly. And some of them intentionally choose the absolute worst places to ride.

I was on Highland fricking Road the other day and some old a-hole man was riding his bike THE WRONG WAY. First of all, riding on Highland is a deathwish in and of itself. But more than that, this motherfricker had the nerve to get mad at me when I passed him. I got as close to the center line as I could (there were cars coming the other direction), and slowed down, and when I got close to him he starts yelling and flipping the bird at me. I really (REALLY) wanted to turn around and confront him but I had my family in the car, and I'm not trying to have some stupid road rage situation. But this dude had the nerve to get mad at me when he was riding on skinny arse Highland Road, which has zero shoulder, and he was in the wrong lane going the wrong fricking direction. I was furious.

I see you’re an LSU fan so I’ll keep it simple dipshit.
Op is having a temper tantrum about adults impeding traffic. I’m sure your little tyke is not...
I came at you. You will do nothing about it.

That’s perfectly legal in EBR if your school is in a residential area.

I just bought a bike and took it for a ride the other night. It’s scary as hell to be on a busy road with traffic. I kept pulling into every other parking lot to let cars pass and immediately cut into a non busy section because I’m not an a-hole and also because I don’t want to die.

I don’t see how those idiots just pedal and refuse to acknowledge that you’re in 2000 lbs of motorized metal right behind them.

i'm not a cyclist, but this is pretty much my take on it.

There are some things i would die for (this country used to be one of them), but to die on a bike because IT'S MY RIGHT, just doesn't seem like a hill to die on.

The problem with cyclists is that even if they are following all of the traffic laws, they still cause problems for drivers (traffic jams). There are certain roads they shouldn't be allowed to ride on because they're too narrow and winding, which creates a hazardous situation. I guess some of them have a death wish, but I don't want to be the one who kills them.

I'm going to agree with you and agree that cyclists shouldn't be expected to be on sidewalks.

At the same time, there's lots of a-hole cyclists, several in my neighborhood who will just blow through 4-way stop intersections. They should follow the rules when there are other vehicles at those intersections (I understand not coming to a complete stop if it's 5:30am and no one else is at that intersection).

Also, stupid shite like that Critical Mass thing in Houston where people on all sorts of bikes intentionally take over entire streets even speed down the sidewalks where people are trying to simply walk to a restaurant doesn't help the image of the biking community, at least in my opinion. The City of Houston should shut that thing down, or at least force them to not act like jackholes.

Why do cyclists think they don’t have to stop at stop signs? Nothing worse than having to pass the same a-hole 8 times

Most people are too fat or too lazy to walk on sidewalks these days. Might as well let the cyclists use them.
