Did the other band stay?

Based on the video, it appears the rest of the stadium (on the home side) was already gone. So much so that the lights were turned off

The crowd starts yelling as the body cam footage moves to show an altercation between officers and the band director. It is unclear who started the altercation.

No it is not unclear who started the altercation, unless you are blind. It is abundantly clear the thugs in blue, as usual, started the confrontation because they can not tolerate their wishes being denied immediately...when it happens they gonna thug out 9 times out of 10.

Good job, society.

Never were any good ones because no good person would willingly violate the rights of others and stand by and watch their co-workers willingly violate the rights of others the number of times it happens in an average police officers shift. i am sure some go into it with good intentions but the first time they fail to stop a fellow officer from trying to ID someone for NO reason the good one is as bad as the bad one.

The band was playing for 18 minutes at night in one of the most dangerous parts of BHam after a rivalry football game. Police needed to clear the area for safety reasons. Just abide and tell your band it’s time to go home.

YOU MUST COMPLY! THE STATE CAN NOT BE WRONG AND WILL NOT BE DENIED. THE STATE IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A MEANINGLESS WASTE OF SPACE COMPARED TO THE STATE....YOU MUST COMPLY OR DIE!

Very conservative idea complying or dying...very small governmentesque...

Not sure if it was in the article or someone posted after but this was in a dangerous part of Bham after a game and I am sure the police department doesn't have the resources to properly provide services if needed.

Is it not the neighborhood of the people in the band or the people listening to the band? I get that white middle class white folks are probably terrified at the thought of being there in broad day light let alone after a football game but if you live in the area you obviously ain't crippled by fear of the area....

Probably afraid some violent White Supremacist will start trouble.

So, you're good with a free for all? Or are you going to start responding to domestic violence calls? Going to go catch murderers? Etc Etc.

I actually respect how serious these majority black schools are about their bands. I sent a link to my kid who is in hs band and this guy is kind of a legend to them now. Without seeing all that led up to the video, it’s hard to say what went down. Enthusiasm is good, but that director needs to dial it down lol.

I’m not bringing race into this at all. But I think a fair question in general is, should the police be in the business of tasing people for not following a school board’s policies? Simple yes or no question here

No. It really is that simple.

The band director is an employee of the school board. If it is a school board policy the school board should enforce it...the police should REFUSE to do so. There is nothing requiring them to...they are required to respond to complaints, they are not required to take action...they can tell the complainant that they have no basis in law. If the complainant is in a position to trespass the person in question then the police are required at that point to get involved.

trespass
this was probably the issue - it wasn’t his school, the other band wasn’t there, he was asked to leave

Your response is dim at best. You probably shouldn't trespass then fight those tasked with escorting you away. But, by all means lie about what happened and push your propaganda.

If the person being trespassed refuses to leave, what should happen?

So instead of making the right decision and stop playing, he refused to listen to the cop's demands, and he got tased...

Nice way to set an example for his students...

Dude deserved to get tased, and now he deserves to be fired.

It is a great example to provide the future of this nation...that the state's muscle will ALWAYS overreact when their demands are not satisfied immediately. Maybe those kids will change that....
