I haven't looked at his Twitter feed in some time, but last time I did I was struck at how disproportionately he liked and RT'd political stuff compared to religious stuff. It was about a 70-30 split, with the majority being political.
Not saying he can't have a political opinion, I just found it odd a pastor of a such a large church focused more on politics than religion.

And now, Birmingham schools have cancelled Church of the Highlands as well.
Say what you will about who they are...but they have legitimately poured tremendous amounts of resources into those Birmingham communities. Only to be shut down because the Pastor liked a tweet.

Birmingham will continue to be a shite hole.

I used to think the stay off social media crowd were over dramatic but I’m terrified to post anything now even the most innocuous thing.

They are shutting down “people coming to volunteer”?
For free?
People who were not involved in what the pastor “liked on social media”?
To mentor their inner city kids without fathers in their homes?
Yes. That will teach them. We will just get other people to volunteer their time!
Crickets....

Fify...
The world, however, when you look outside the prism of politics is a fricking amazing place... There still is a lot of good left, no matter what you may see and hear to the contrary, by those who unfortunately have their heads in their respective asses...

There someone goes again assuming all the residents have to agree with whoever made this statement.

How about their medical missions? I know someone who works at a clinic for the underserved.

No longer allowed to come into the 9 housing projects that they were coming to serve.

How about me and you go over to Gate City this Saturday and volunteer our time.
Now they are kicking them out of Birmingham Schools. The black community hated COTH being in their community because it was uppity white folks telling them how to change their status.

This is not entirely true. A former black co-worker of mine lives in Ensley and attends COTH and has a small side job with them. He has many friends around him that go there as well. All younger folks. I don't know how he feels about this dust up though.
From my impression, the older black churchgoers HATE COTH and see their efforts as pandering, but I don't think the entire black community are hostile towards them.

I was driving home one afternoon and I was listening to Chris Coleman on 94.9 and people were calling in throwing a fit because they were trying to work their way into their community. Maybe it was all older people calling in but he was trying to tell them that it was a good thing when someone wants to come into your community and invest and provide assistance. Most weren't having it.
