Typical demo there is 17-21 yo females with their left leg on the dash driving in the left lane 5 mph under the speed limit.
Auto renewals don't include running MVR unless you; add a driver, auto or have a wreck. I had 4-5 tickets one summer and never got dinged by state farm.

I once was pulled over in Evangeline Parish at 10:00 am because the word "Louisiana" wasn't fully visible on my license plate. I had license plate frame at the time that barley covered up the TOP 1/4 of the word "Louisiana".
Those license plate frames from the dealer can get you stopped anywhere in the US.
The cops use the “obscured license plate law”. Those frames are illegally obscuring your plate.
They use it to see if you pass the smell test. If you understand what I mean.

I got passed by a guy one time with his phone in one hand, fooling with his laptop on the seat beside him with the other, and steering with his knees.

It is already listed as non-moving when I looked it up on line

I know they don’t care but I will trash this godforsaken parish every chance I get and ensure none of my friends and family spend a dime there.
They’re probably crying, knowing they’re about to lose 10s of dollars in parish revenue

How many times was this email forwarded before it got to you?

Dumbest shite ever. Most troopers won't even blink an eye at 10 over. Pure revenue collection, er, safety....

Weird thing though...if you don't speed, they don't bother you.
In fact, they won't even bother you for 8mph over in 99% of the cases. Passed a trooper yesterday parked on the shoulder. Cruise was set on 62, speed limit was 55. I never lifted and he never budged.

How about not going 85 in a 75 MPH zone..... btw did they actually have a sign that said 75???????

Oh, it's definitely used as the basis for a pretextual stop 99 times out of 100. But I don't think that was the case here.
1. I'm not the demographic that is generally the target of pretextual stops;
2. It was mid-morning. Not something like 2:00 am
3. I was driving a bland SUV.
4. I was wearing a suit and tie (on my way to a business meeting)
The bozo cop didn't ask to search my car. Hell, he didn't even look into it. It was literally just a "fill a ticket quota" stop

I think the law was that if it was something like 5 miles or under it the money went to the state. I could be wrong.

The law is written for speeding infractions of less than 10 mph and it only applies on interstate highways

Waze, can't tell you how many tickets it's saved me from!

I know for a fact that St. Landry and Evangeline parish have lost out a handful of economic development projects because of this. I knew one guy in real estate who was going to sell a huge tract to someone who was going to employ 100+ people (mostly truck drivers) off of I-49 and the company pulled out after a few of their scouts got $200 dollar tickets for dumb things.

I wrote it myself. No email.
Two friends got stopped in Arizona because of this. They had surfboards hanging out of their truck. The cop in the big black SUV saw them and wanted to stop them. Crossed three lanes of traffic and lit them up.
The cop put a little heat on them and they gave up the four joints they had. The cop laughed, told them he was looking for Meth and let them go.
I asked some local cops about it and they laughed and said they use it as a pretext whenever they want to run somebody through the hoops.
