ILS approach with Altimeter set incorrectly I bet. He happily flew into the ground on a precision approach
Altimeter setting really doesn’t have anything to do with it. Even an autoland uses RA not baro setting. Most landings in those conditions are hand flown. Fly the approach to visual conditions and then click it all off and land.

I also wonder with there were some visual illusions going on making the pilot think he was higher than they were
would ice and snow cause that?

Nobody knows what caused this yet, but to say DEI cannot conceivably have a negative effect on safety is counterintuitive. By its very nature, you are making hiring decisions based on genitals and skin color instead of pure merit. History will not be kind to the DEI era.
When was pure merit ever used to make hiring decisions? In an ideal world merit would have been used always....it has never been used on a large scale. The first black person hired as a commercial pilot for a major carrier was hired in 1964. Since 1964 air travel safety has doubled, on average, every decade. Prior to 1964 skin color was a MAJOR deciding factor in who was trained to fly commercially and who was hired to do so. That changed somewhat in 1964 and air travel has been safer since. It is an idiotic stance to pretend as if merit has ever meant anything in the United States or western culture (or any human culture) in hiring, educating or any other decision making....it never has, does not today and will not tomorrow. History will not be kind to the DEI Era, no doubt, because that history will be written by people who are in the position to write that history based in part on who they are and who they know with merit being the last item on the list used to determine their qualifications....it has never meant a thing.

Literally any minority hire for these people is DEI.
In their minds the only male that is capable is white.

You can thank the existence of DEI for that mindset

It does not make someone who knows being white and male is not an automatic qualifier for any position suspicious or women and brown people...only those among us who mistakenly think it is a given that ANYONE who is not a white male is less qualified than a white male is suspicious. Normal people with some ability to think logically and without as little emotion as possible understand that its entirely possible that a woman or a brown person WAS the most qualified applicant....and would have never been considered for the position as little as 50 or so years ago. Those of us pretending merit has ever meant anything are delusional or simply bigoted. The truth is it has never meant much in hiring or education....the connected are and always will be more likely to be selected than the unconnected given a relatively similar amount of merit.

Again, the only people who do worry about it are racists, misogynists and homophobes.....and anyone who understands that merit has never played much of a role in deciding who was hired or educated in this or any other nation.

Here’s how hiring works in the airlines.
Say Delta’s minimum flight time requirements are 1500 hours of flight time but in reality to be competitive you need to be around 3000 or so.
However, Delta will at the very least interview and probably hire every minority and women who has 1500 hours whereas a white guy wont even get a serious look until he has more experience. Or if a white guy with 1500 hours and women with 1500 hours and all other things being equal such as quality of flight time, education level and the like, are both up for the position, the woman is getting hired over the man 10 times out of 10.

Minorities are females have a huge advantage in hiring practices at the airlines.

Came down hard on right main landing gear causing it to collapse. This caused left wing to raise up catching air which rolls plane over. Pilot in deep do do. Should have gone around.
