We have a Dyson cordless and it's great for small messes and tidying. Have a shark that I'll use to clean all the floors.
The dyson on regular power has enough battery to do the floors, but on full power won't have enough.

I've had a Kirby G4 for at least 15 years (heck maybe close to 20). It was pricey ($1,000) but it deep cleans and I've only had to replace the hose twice and that's it. It's been worth the money.
For the past 2 years I've had a Neato and now I just use the Kirby intermittently.

If anyone has one of those Dyson cordless ones
I have a Roomba 980 that runs 4 days a week and a cordless Dyson (it lasts about an hour on full power). Our cleaning lady seems to do OK with it. The Dyson has the added perk of easily being used to vacuum out my truck.
My mom gave us one of those expensive Rainbows when we moved in our new house.....I hardly ever use it. It is one of the canister ones that uses water to catch the dirt or something like that....like I said I never use it. It is just so easy to use the Dyson for what little we do.
ETA Not a Rainbow...it is a Robo Clean....again like I said I never use it LOL

In the market for a new vacuum. Have had a Dyson as well as a Kenmore Cannister. Would be used primilarly for hardwood floors and a few rugs. If anyone has one of those Dyson cordless ones, I would like to know what you think about it.
Love my Dyson V8 Absolute. Has a fluffy brushhead for hardwood floors. Best money I ever spent. Had Dyson Animal Ball previously and hated it.

I had a dyson, kenmore canister, and now a Miele. I love the Miele the best. They make an entry level model A1 vaccums on Florida Blvd sells that is for hardwoods around $349.

I only have one room of carpet and its shag.
Best vacuum Ive ever used. Light, cheap, plenty of power, best attachment hose Ive ever used, super easy to deploy and stretches a long-arse way. Brush attachment is short enough to use for your car and in other tight spaces yet has a really long and collapsible, hard-tube attachment(doubles as handle) for reaching up high like in the corners of a room to get spider webs. Self adjusting between hard floors and carpet. HEPA so it wont throw fine dust in the air. Filters are washable and reusable. Ive had mine for years and have never replaced them. Just rinse and dry. Canister is really easy to empty and clean. Vacuum lays down completely flat to get under tables, chairs, beds, couches, etc.
Hoover really thought of everything with this one and I cant think of one thing I would change anything about it.
There is another model by Hoover thats very similar to this one and even uses the same nomenclature. I have both. It has a swivel head which makes it quicker to use but that also a point of failure. It also has more power without adding much weight. I hate the attachment hose on it. Its much shorter and the attachment brush is long as hell so it cant be used in tight quarters.
This is the second one I described with the swivel head.
If you arent going to use it for the attachments or its hose then get the second one as youll get more powerful suction and the swivel head is convenient.

Man I’ve been looking at an autovac unit...just wasn’t sure if they were any good. I have no carpet in my house and really need something that’s good in corners and baseboards.

I second the dyson. Whenever I empty out the canister, I can never believe the amount of shite that thing picks up.
I have the ball and I second this. I vacuum and then empty it and think good fricking god, thank god my mom isn’t here to see this.

Call Ed over at Best Quality Vacuum Repair and ask for a dust filter for a Hoover Max Extract 60 Pressure Pro.

If you have to drag something across hardwood flooring, get a Riccar Moonlight. Very quiet, light weight, won't damage the finish. An upright of any design is bad for hardwood flooring, small canister is better, backpack style is the best. Once I've refinished my hardwood floors I'm getting an Atrix vacuum and my Kirby will just do the rugs.
