I've rented quite a few vehicles over the last couple years and I can say with certainty that Chrysler products are always the worst.

I bought a brand new 2008 Dodge Charger back in 2008.
Just sold it to a friend last month
It had 100,700 miles
Never been in the shop once
Never had one problem with it at all

Might be time for an oil change.

I guess it depends on the buyer
That link has Lexus at the top and all I hear are bad things about Lexus

A family friend a long time ago had a Subaru dealership.
As you some of you may know , the cash cow for dealerships is the body shop/maintenance.
They sold it because the subaru's hardly ever came back into the shop

Not to be offensive, but you hear from some very uninformed people.

So everyone seems to agree that the Subaru Forester is a phenomenal vehicle. Why, then, are there so few of them on the roads? (or at least were there 7 years ago when I was in the States?)

Depends on the part of the country. A lot more Subarus are sold up north. There are very few dealerships down here. I couldn't even tell you where a Subaru dealer is in Birmingham, if there even is one. Yet I even know where the Fiat dealer is.

Subaru Forester, Consumer Reports top-rated small SUV for the past ten years. Consider buying new. The model commands such a high resale value that the difference between new and used is minuscule.

This. Also the Subaru Outback, although, not considered and small SUV, is still another great option, which is actually, going to be my next vehicle. Currently have the Legacy.

They dont make as many subarus. Plus, the forester and outback dont really stay on lots for too long. The bottom line is that subarus are made very well.

Porsche Macan. Great little car. Reliable. Hauls arse. Shitty gas mileage.

Volvo XC60. Awesome small SUV. Whomever designed the interior is not an idiot like everyone else. Very reliable little car. Does not haul arse but gets great gas mileage.

Mercedes GLA 250. Very reliable but slow as balls. Strange looking thing. Good gas mileage.

In-Laws have a '16 Forester, have friends with a '14 Rav4, and after riding and driving both of those I'm pretty happy we went with the '15 CR-V. I may regret it if it eventually goes bad but the smart key system is unbelievably convenient.

You might also consider the Ford Escape. I'm on my second one.

They are much more popular north of I-40 because they come standard with all wheel drive....which is not necessary in the deep south. It burns more fuel than an equal two wheel drive vehicle, and adds more costs upfront for the extra hardware. You can't get a Forester in two wheel drive like you can a CR-V or Equinox.

Subaru cars are not particularly fancy, stylish, or quick....but they are very safe and incredibly reliable and sturdy. I'd compare the Forester favorably to the Chevy Equinox, Honda CR-V, and Toyota Rav4 if you need all wheel drive.

If you don't need all wheel drive, I'd go with the CR-V or Equinox or Rav4.

I'm partial to the real SUVs.....like the 4Runner or Tahoe. They also tend to be sturdy, reliable, and offer higher towing capacity and good crash tests. They are also heavier and burn more fuel than the crossovers, so they have their shortcomings.

I live in NC and like every 5th vehicle I see is a Subaru. Lots of them being Foresters. Just bought a CrossTrek myself and love it.
