I couldn’t agree more. Location is more important to me, especially with how bad the traffic is. We chose our school and house so they’d be really close together and couldn’t be happier.

Same. We bought this house because of proximity to my daughter's school and our jobs. I have the longest commute and it's 4 miles.

Ours go to Mbs. Third and pre-K. Everyone at the school is real down to earth and not pretentious at all. We like it.

A bit of advice- When making your shortlist, prioritize the K-12 schools. It’s tough when your kid has gone to the same school for 5-6 years, then starts fresh in 6th grade at a new school & has to fit in with kids who have already formed their clicks.

I have to say the opposite.

Going to the same school K-12 will bore and wear the kid out.

Same school for 13 years
Same classmates for 13 years
Same teachers
Same scenery
Etc etc

Kid is gonna get worn out and fed up by 5-6th grade and would want a change of scenery.

Just my 2 cents

For me it comes from 8 years of experience being around them at quiz bowls and sporting events.

It's absolutely palpable the difference in those two schools and the rest. They are too often arrogant shitheads, just like their parents. Of course there are exceptions.

Perfect example. MBS is NOT full of pretentious cockmonkey parents like St George and St Aloyious. But education is just as good.

If you are vietnamese you will feel right at home at STM. And next year you won't have to deal with that asshat Moscona cause he's leaving yet another school after changing everything

As an STM alum, shots fired.

It was a bad look for the guy for sure. You’ve got one foot out the door during this?

Dude had the dream setup, his high school principal in an admin role and his former classmate as priest, in a school with a proud tradition but with absolutely low expectations given all that neighborhood/parish has gone through from 2005-2016.

Speaks about his character, to be honest.

St James or episcopal are the best two options in BR. Class sizes are small, teacher/ student ratio great, technology and facilities are top of the line. You get what you pay for with these two

All of the above sounds like it will pamper the kids rather than teaching them valuable life skills such as how to adapt to new environments and make new friends.

Must be so depressing to have to live in BR and feel the necessity to shell out upwards of $6K to send your 5 year old to kindergarten.

I understand your sentiment. But, compared to day care, it'll actually be a price reduction.

why is mascona leaving stm? my kids don't go there any more. I haven't even been to church there in a while because of things the priest has done I don't like.

Get your kid tested for gifted. Best decision I made with my daughter. Very high quality education and zero out of pocket expenses.

She is now in 8th grade taking high school credit courses, is in the Talented Arts and Talented Music programs, Robotics Club, etc. Next year she will be going to BR High Magnet

If you’re applying for UHIGH next year, I’d look at Trinity, University Methodist, ELC or St. James. While The lab school doesn’t technically have a feeder school, it seems like lots of kids getting into kindergarten there come from these preK programs.

Sent mine to Westdale Heights Academic Magnet because that’s where us poors send our children. Great school if you are a poor. Good pipeline to BRMHS where us poors send our High Schoolers.
