Quick Background-

My mother-in-law inherited a large quantity of really nice stuff that she doesn’t really have a use for. Items include

- various Waterford Crystal items (glasses, vases, serving dishes, etc etc.
- Silverware (flatware)
- Silver Platters, serving pieces
- Assorted China - can’t remember the brand

I know some of this stuff is collectible.

Besides eBay or an estate sale has anyone ever used another resource to buy or sell this type of stuff?

ETA: I already called Rick and the Old Man...they didn’t know shite, but I’m pretty sure he’s got a buddy who does...

Give it to me, I’ll sell it for you and you’ll get a small percentage.

Take some pics, and send me a ballpark price for the lot. Keep in mind, it's only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. It's a small market.

Will do.

I’ll be with the items Saturday/Sunday. It’s all in Opelousas.

Also have a house to sell there, if anyone can recommend a good realtor in the area.

We aren’t from there and don’t really know anyone who is.

Have the stuff appraised and the appraiser will sell them at auction.

Here's one site that buys China and silver. There are others. People are always looking to replace stuff that gets lost or broken. LINK

Yes. It is. The woman just bought a lot of shite because she could. I’m skimming through some websites and I’m finding glasses that retail for $200+ for 2 of them. She’s got like 14-16 in various colors.

She’s got silver chargers to put the china plates in when you set the table. It’s nuts.

All I know is crap like that collect dust. Have a shite load in the cabinets that hasn't seen day light in 20 years. Told the wife to give it all to our daughter, but she doesn't want it.

I had a few things that were a mixture of silver and silverplate that were my mother in law's to a jewelry store here out of lack of anywhere else to take them other than a pawn shop. Some of it was fairly old,and didn't have markings that I could find, and I certainly didn't want to try to guess.

I was really surprised at the amount of money it came to. They didn't want the silverplate, so I took that to Goodwill. They bought the rest, and I didn't have to deal with it, which was almost as good as the money. I know the owner and have bought from them so I was comfortable that it was a fair value.
