Tell them it’s for a special event (50th birthday, anniversary, …) and give them a target date of 6 months out. Often helps to get the allocation.

Does her phone not tell her the time? Or she needs to pretend to be fancy wearing a used watch around?

Davidsw, yes his prices are high. But people trust him to sell them an authentic watch. On a watch costing thousands, often 20 to 50 thousand or more, peace of mind is worth it.
I agree that there are other sellers that you can trust however.

She should try the AD route for that one
Also, if it’s for her and she seems genuinely interested for herself, I could see the AD working to allocate to her over some other jabroni

I bought from Chrono24 and read the seller with 500-1000 reviews and all the Stars.
Then brought to a Jeweler as soon as I got it in for verification.

I've bought several from Jon Todd at Sant Blanc. He has a good selection and is fantastic to deal with.

how do you know if it's real and not fake?
Buy only from a Rolex dealer.

She specifically is looking at an Explorer 36 mm
Why not walk into the AD and buy one? The chances are good they have one in the case available for her to purchase.

Watchrecon.com, LunarOyster, or TakuyaWatches. Have done many sales and purchases through all 3. Lunar and Takuya are top notch. Takuya (Thanh) is based out of Houston too so you have fast shipping.
