Yea i know not ot ballin, but looking to get into a newer (to us) SUV three rows somewhere around 30 grand. A few months ago, my wife’s (no pics) car transmission went out and we ditched it and borrowed my in-laws extra car and yesterday the ac went out in it. If it weren’t for bad luck, we’d have no luck lately. So anyway she’s now on me to get her something decently new doesn’t have to be you know last year’s model or anything but id like something that it’s least like a 2021/2022 and above what you got?

Honda Pilots are nice and the third row is roomy.

IMO the best/nicest 20/21 3 row for ~30k is the Acura MDX. While it is not a cavernous 3 row it isn't tiny either. Acura doesn't have the residual premium over Honda like Lexus has over Toyota and you can often get a lot more amenities by buying a similar Acura (in this case an MDX) over a Honda (Pilot) with very little price difference.

Does your vehicle need to tow anything? If not, a minivan will get you three comfortable rows with good storage behind the third row. The third row can be dropped down for more usable storage. Better gas mileage, sliding doors, etc. Much better bang for the buck. If you’ve never looked at one, at least do that before letting minivan prejudice deny you a vehicle that most suits your needs. We’ve had both the Honda odyssey and now a Toyota sienna hybrid, both great.

My brother bit this bullet and doesn’t regret it at all. 2 kids, 2 dogs, all the room in the world, and a game changer for road trips.
He’s not a car guy at all though, so he didn’t have the added burden of mentally accepting driving a minivan.

Better add 25 to 30 K to that, your not getting a Palisade for 30K

They don't, they sit right in your budget. I wouldn't pick it over an MDX/Pilot/Highlander though.
Another one to take a hard look at and will save you some money is the CX9 if it has the space you need. It is the sleeper in the segment with steller reliability and handles better than any of the 3 rows not made in Europe.

To meet his requirements, he is going to have to look at older ones or ones with a ton of miles.

First of all you not gonna get anything around 30k unless used.
Kia Carnival around 36k would be my choice
