Get a Legalshield membership, a lawyer will send him a letter, that's usually enough.
Dont give SS any ideas. He may try to scam people out of money this way and end up back in jail again.

You could take it to small claims court... but that'll just drain 8 hours out of your life and he probably wouldn't show up.
So what you should do is piss and moan like an impotent jerk, and bend over and take it up the tailpipe!

Some preventative maintenance on a couple AC units since I was in the area already but he held the initial contract. I did the small work for a percentage of the fee he charged. But I also had to expense an extra night for a hotel. So all in all the guy owes me right at $300 that he is going 'going to pay me when he can', but what's fricked up is I know he got but a check for the work I performed.
Asked the customer for the money. They won't pay you but now they know he is a shite head.
1099 is contract work (not employee no tax withholding) aka you pay someone more than $600 if they are and individual IRS wants to know they got paid. If you are a corp you have to do it. You can get one for gambling and interest it is just away to let irs you got money

It's a 1st party debt. You can do almost anything you want to do to collect it, you are not bound by 3rd party collection limits.
You can drive up to his residence with a car labeled "Debt Collector" and post signs on telephone poles all around his neighborhood with his picture, name, and address, and the amount owed. You can call his friends and neighbors and talk openly and freely about his business dealings and what a 2 timing scumbag he is that owes you money. You can get a lawn chair and sit in front his house with a Mister Microphone and call out to him: "Hey Deadbeat, why don't you pay me what you owe me?"
Get as down and dirty as you like. He owes you directly, no limits outside of assault and battery.
I love this

Post his number on the OT offer $50 to the first person that can collect via call
If no one collects but he gets 100 calls asking if he has $300 worth of arse to kick you might get some enjoyment

Tell us his name. That should do it.

I've told him plenty of times he is trash and should be ashamed,

But yeah him running a business and me going above and beyond and helping him out and going out of the way to do it and treating him like I would an old grandpa and them not just complete stiffing me but costing me money out of my own pocket? It's pretty fricked up
ETA: and like I said he doesn't 'avoid' me so to speak, he actually answers my text pretty quick... he just avoids paying me

What kind of buseinsss and why did he 1099 you for $300 worth of work?
Posted on 5/15/17 at 11:07 pm to ellishughtiger
I already explained it. I was in the area doing some similar work and helped the guy out. He never paid me.
I have an attorney gf of mine going to send him a letter and I'll try to collect that way... I'll keep sending him text asking him, but that's as far as I'll probably take it, since it really isn't worth spending any money to recoup it.
Now i know the guy is a piece of shite even though us is like 80 and I tried to see him through the prism of a nice old grandpa type fellow.... won't be helping him out any longer more that's for sure. His lose.
And yes someone that doesn't pay their end of a contract/deal is trashy in my book. I've done some trashy shitty things but being a theif or fricking over someone's money isn't one of them.
