"Perks" are so silly. Just pay me more money and I'll decide what to do with it.

Besides the obvious benefits of public vs private sector, I can't understate this enough:
Being not profit driven, I can focus on more project oriented work and not kissing up to some candy arse Karen so a percentage marker goes up per quarter. Not being customer facing is one of the most underrated perks of any job.

Profit sharing....
Every year in January you get an email from HR that profit sharing had been voted on by the board.
The very next week, the company deposits an extra 5% of your base salary into your 401K

The things they would get the employees for having so many safety hours were insane. One year he got a bbq pit.

I don’t think that even 1% of the US population had heard of that day until it was made a national holiday.

Corporate gig allowed first-class flights if any leg was over 8 hours.
All of my flights qualified.

Thanks for this thread. I’m bookmarking so I can link whenever someone says “we should run government more like a business.” Because as a government employee, I can’t accept anything.

Enjoy your day off tomorrow. Most normal folks still have to work.

Besides my massive commissions, I have an expense account that affords me a lot of wining and dining on a weekly basis. Free vacations, work from home, make my own schedule, never work past lunch on Fridays... yeah I guess it's not a bad gig

I worked for a small ad agency in Dallas. Every Friday afternoon, around 3 pm, they brought in cold beer for everyone. You could bring it to your desk and drink while you were still working. It took some getting used to seeing people talking to clients on the phone while drinking a beer. This wasn't a beer blast with kegs lined down the hallway, but surprisingly everyone respected the deal and drank responsibly.

Traveled across Europe for nearly 6 years on my employer's dime. Had a company car at our home base in Bavaria and was able to go places I would have never been able to go to. Leave Monday mornings, fly back to Nuremberg on Friday morning or stay the weekend wherever I was and see the sites and on to the next spot. I would have done it for free.
