I think id get a job making about 10k a year and live in a glorified garbage can if it came to that.

You find the nastiest, most ruthless female lawyer in your area and let her get to work.
Nobody hates women more than other women and from everyone I’ve spoken with that’s gone through a divorce, this is your best route.

It’s ok. Had the same thing happen. Get them the phone. When they are little they also will forget to charge it. They will learn. I used it to say goodnight. O matter what happened every night. Mom does not want to get involved there and if she does stay calm and play the long game. Hardest thing to do fyi but do that.
Be what I tell my friend “Consistent”.
Being consistent with them is key.
You want to be the first phone call when all crap hits the fan.
They will be older very quick and mom is not going to be able to control them or they will hate her.

Don’t know her, but if she’s a bad lawyer that’s fine. But lawyers are allowed to get drinks with their colleagues. And honestly, you don’t want a lawyer so wrapped up in your case that they are as emotionally invested as you. Judges hear emotional pleas all day. You want someone timely and communicative. I would recommend Lorraine McCormick.

Reading this broke my heart and brought back a flood of memories. I initially had 40/60. I admittedly did some dumb stuff one night and was reduced to supervised visitation. That hit me like a truck. I got my act together and put my kid above absolutely everything else. Killed her with kindness even when she ripped the child from my arms and called the police on me for not taking him to a birthday party because my mom was in town and he wanted to see his grandmother. I ate the crap sandwich for years. Eventually got to 50/50 because of a change in her job. 10 years later, he would prefer to be with me. He declines to go on vacation with her and takes that entire time with me. His eyes are open. He makes remarks about her now that I never would have (but damn sure wanted to) because he sees the full picture.
Admitted I did have some demons to battle. But my focus on him has been unwavering and it’s obvious to him. I saw similar patterns in our stories (my needing to grow up a bit being an exception).
Hang in there. Fight like hell. Take every bite of that sandwich with a smile, knowing you’ve their best interest at heart. It might take years for the fruit to be harvested, but keep planting the seeds, tilling the soil, and putting the work in. It will eventually pay off. Your kids deserve the best dad they can get from you.
I’m sorry that I don’t have a BR recommendation. But I wanted to encourage you, especially when I had felt so hopeless in similar shoes.

Family members see what a count their mother is.

I'm sorry you went through this, and I am sorry that you are continuing to go through this. It sounds like your children might be younger.
Become the best person that you can be, and become the best father that you can be as well. Do right at all times, whether they are watching or not watching. And don't talk bad about their mother. Your new family is you and your children. Protect that at all costs.
And I can promise you this with 100 % certainty. You do these things, and do them very well over a long period of time, and your children will figure out everything on their own in time. I guarantee it.

Google says shared custody is common and encouraged by LA state law. Neither of you should be going for full.
The IRS says whoever makes more gets to claim the kid every year, so dont let the court order otherwise unless you have to.
Cost me $7500 here in NC in 2015. The hateful bitch fired 3 of her lawyers until she got the named partner because they all kept telling her it was hard for her to get full custody. I told my lawyer if i wasnt getting shared to let them know i was moving home to AL and give me summer custody. Wasnt about to live here with no family to be a 2 weekend a month parent.
