Several questions:
1. What model of Toyota do you presently have?
2. What do you use the car for at work? Is it merely transportation to get your person from Point to Point? Do you have to carry any work-specific apparatus with you regularly? If so, describe.
3. What do you need of the vehicle when you are not working? Are you single or do you have any kids?
4. Does the transportation HAVE to work like 100% of the time? Will people die because you don't make it to work every day of the year on time?

quote:That sounds the most prudent response yet... I'll wait until I have a more manageable 'territory' and then I can buy a nicer car... I mean, I've got a 3, 5, 10, and 15 year plan and I suppose it's time for me to buck up and drive the Toyota for a couple years...
You need to wait until its paid off and you have at least some bit of equity.

I thought you said a lot of windshield time. Let me know when you do 4K + a month.

As someone who had a job where I had to put in a lot of windshield time (900+ a week), I can say that ideally I would have not put my nice car into an early grave. Given the option, I would rather buy a $4k car every 1 1/2 to 2 years and run that into the ground.
Also, you hate putting that kind of mileage on a car you're still paying for. You'll be upside down with a quickness.
As for which kind of car, I'd suggest a 90's Nissan or Toyota. 30+ MPG, runs forever and repairs are cheap and easy.

Unless you're delivering pizza, I'd ask for a truck allowance.

You want him to drive 2300 miles per month in a Tacoma? Are you a sadist?
He needs a highway car with a comfortable ride. Buick LaCrosse, Toyota Avalon, Lincoln, or something big and German.

Any thoughts on if I should just drive this into the ground or re-up and do it to a new car this year?
I have had 3 separate cars that I put over 250,000 miles on each one.
The key is maintenance!
Your biggest cost of a new vehicle is the depreciation in the first 2 years.
Once you get the note paid off, you can spend that note money on something you want for the next 6 years.

I've put on ~21k miles since March 2015... so that's ~2,300+ miles per month...
I drive a 2015 Toyota, but I don't know if I should be putting another 2,300/mo miles going forward...

I put right at 30k miles on my truck this year and last month bought a Prius. Its taken some getting used to going from an F150 to a Prius but Ive definitely gotten used to 45-50mpg vs 14mpg. The car is roomy and when you are driving that much, you need something with great gas mikeage if they arent paying your mileage.

I drive a Ford Fusion Hybrid. Very comfortable, sporty and gets over 40 MPG.
Would highly recommend

As a comparison, our company pays the sales force $700.00 per month car allowance plus we pay for gas and routine maintenance on expense reports. The $700 takes care of car note and insurance. Anything over 5 hours, they fly.

I drive similar distances and didn’t want to put that type of mileage on my current vehicle, so I looked at the Toyota Corolla, Nissan Altima, and Kia Optima. I really didn’t feel that any of the three were any better or worse than the other.

Driving a reliable car into the ground almost always is the right answer, financially.
Emotionally, often not.

So you drive 600 miles a day in a personal vehicle?
What do you do since you don't have any time to actually work?
