Invest a lot of the extra income, cut out the substances, cut down on the alcohol, and travel. You feel like you're stuck in BR, but you now make good money, so travel. It doesn't have to be a week long vacation. Take a long weekend and hop on a plane. Take a girl with you. She doesn't have to be your serious girlfriend.

Enjoy life while you have the means, youth, and freedom to do so.

Mr. Colby, the simplicity of your advice is not to be understated.

Thank you VERY MUCH.

Unlike everyone else here, get married youngish and have your kids youngish. You don't want to start having your kids and doing the coaching and such once you're too old. It's a young people's game.

This way, you're still a bit younger when your kids get old enough to have real, adult conversations and have a cigar with your son.

My father had me at 26 and growing up I never viewed him as a "youngish father" but compared to everyone else I went to school/grew up with, he was in the younger category.

I don't foresee myself married/having kids in the next 2 years. So having kids/marriage young like you suggest is out of the picture.

Thanks for your advice though, I do appreciate your answer.

ps. This day and age, 28-31 now seems the normal age to have a first child. As opposed to the previous generations who were having children starting at a younger age.

Do it. You won't regret it. A change of pace and scenery can do wonders for the psyche. And seasonal jobs, especially in nice places, always have hot trim for easy pickings. That will perk any virile young man up.

This is great advice. I kinda regret never getting a job as a raft guide when younger. Lots of cute chicks working there too, though probably not ski resort hot.

did your parents lock you in your room your whole life?

I don't get having kids early at all. I'm 26 and barely have a grip on my own life. Not a chance in hell I can be responsible for another life at this point in my life.

They're usually the same folks, really. You just have to have better hygeine as a liftie than a guide. I've slept with some raft chicks whose BO would offend a wookie; but, hey, when you're in rural SC, you take what you can get.

X100. My grandpa has always said man can always build more of this. More of that. But there is only x amount of land. Buy every parcel you can afford.

And that's why we are sitting on over 5k acres

Dating and marriage are a huge part of someone's life.

Having that attitude with family, again, leaves you with lonliness.

Having that attitude with friends leaves you friendless.

Having that attitude at work leaves you with no promotions, and most of the time no job.

Having that attitude at church probably means you'll eventually get asked to leave.

I could go on.

It's simply terrible advice, dude.

Don't rely on any one thing for happiness. Money may come and go. Women and friends may come and go. Opportunities will definitely come and go. Enjoy the good times with all of those things, but don't let any single one of them decide your happiness.

If you drink, drink to fortifying the good times, rather than drinking to erase the bad ones.

frick saving money. Spend that shite and make memories. If you don't do it now, you may never have another opportunity. This is the youngest you'll ever be. Don't settle for one bitch, settle for many with no intentions of settling down with one. Save that for a later date. Don't stress over anything and try your damndest to enjoy life because when you're old and gray, you don't want to look back at these years and regret wasting them. Be happy and do what makes YOU happy. And for God's sake, screw what other people think of you! Own whatever environment you're in and act like you're packing a 12 inch slong. Be nice and kind to everyone (because they could die or disappear from your life at any minute) but don't be a bitch. No matter what, spend as much time with your grandparents as possible (if they're still here) and enjoy every second spent with your friends because they'll start marrying off one by one soon and eventually fade away. Lastly, always keep in mind you don't know what that stranger you just flipped off in traffic is going through or the emotional battle he might be facing.

PS: One day you'll want to look back and say, "Damn, I wish I hadn't done that" rather than "Damn, I wish I had done that."

The end.
