Don't think it's 5 stars, but the Parc 55 Wyndham was really nice when we stayed there a few years ago

The St Regis, Four Seasons, or the Ritz are probably your best bets.

mark hopkins was nice, and it has the top of the mark bar on top with a 360 degree view of the city

The experience at the Fairmont is entirely room dependent, and the range of room quality is considerable. Some are renovated and great, others are terribly dated and gross. It's also not a convenient location.

Stayed there about a month ago and really enjoyed. Tonga Room FTW.

1983? Shiiiiit, it's more old school than that. That's some 50s-early 60s type stuff.

Fairmont suggesters are probably just parroting The Rock. All of the Mandarins I've been to are extremely nice.

And if you ask for the nicest hotel, you're not allowed to complain about the price.

I stay with friends when I go there so I don't know. Mandarins tend to be really nice, though.
