Very impressive convective burst ongoing with Beryl. The tops of those clouds have temporarily obscured the reforming eye. That is typically a sign of strengthening.

The last few years, their 5 day tracks have been excellent. Rapid intensification is still hard to predict

There’s a smaller NOAA jet that seemed to do a flyby of Beryl. What is their mission?

They take measurements of the surrounding area to get a better understanding of what the steering patterns may look like.
