im honestly surprised there aren't militias and self styled paramilitary groups already out there in response. Not that I'm advocating that, but I think it's bound to happen as the weak kneed governments won't get serious about the crisis situation.

Most Germans are extremely reluctant to form any sort of group or organization that could possibly be misconstrued as nationalistic.
It's actually because of this that Germany has become the center of the European migration.

At the market or in Berlin? Either way, he's probably just caught up in everything and either being asked to give a statement or helping people out.
I've been through a somewhat similar situation as this. Everyone was fine, it's just no one thinks to check their phone.

update as 12 are now dead...there were reports of people being run over and dragged for 80-100 feet....that's sickening..

Reports that that they arrested the wrong guy yesterday and the suspect is still on the run
