The teen killer began firing after entering a special education class. It is unclear if it was specifically targeted or chosen at random.

He also critically wounded a 54-year-old teacher and shot a seven-year-old child who uses a wheelchair in the face, both of whom are still in hospital.

I also live here in Bend, and politics aside the community knew immediately it was a 16yo white make from a local high school. There was no Coulters law conspiracy going on in a community 97% white. I can’t pretend I know the motive or the 16yo. We’re grieving as parents and neighbors and we’re thankful to that dad. The whole city feels subdued and numb but lots of community to lean on that I’m thankful… We’re a blue area but also a big hunting/ fishing area and that parent is a hero though I’m sure he doesn’t feel that way. He won’t be prosecuted
These are the types of posts that give this site real worth to me, not the endless barage of hackneyed cliches from the usual suspects.

That's a rough spot for that guy to be in, psychologically speaking. He's a hero that took the necessary action. He did all he could do, but regrets he couldn't do more.
His name should definitely be added to the global list of people who should never pay for a drink the rest of their lives, but he's probably the kind of guy that wouldn't want that honor, either. Just a dude doing what needed to be done.

Griffin's motive is unknown, but he attended the school as a child before moving on to the local high school
Where have we heard this before .

Almost like you are saying people who go out and commit random mass shootings are psychologically stable.
Hard to believe they don't conform to the logic of a normal well adjusted adult.
I agree 100%, which is why trying to attach a partisan meaning to their psychosis is pretty much always faulty

The wherewithal and courage to assess a situation like that, identify the shooter, and take him out is just incredible
Dude is a real hero and it’ll probably haunt him for the rest of his life

I don't think any normal person would be interested in meeting you, after reading through this thread.

More info is coming out about the rotten frick who did this. The only thing I can say is that until society learns to call a spade a spade this stuff will continue. Failing to address behavior disorders and mental illness because its uncomfortable and hurts feelings is our own fault.

I'm not linking the website until its more confirmed but sauces say the kids has had behavior disorders and possibly special ed type needs.

I don’t have more info, but the article above named his mom as Shauntai Nickerson. You can find her on Facebook and see a profile pic with a kid who looks to be the right age. He looks like you’d expect.

My oldest had a scare at their school the other day. Another student was walking around with a camera tripod but someone just saw a teenager walking with some long thing from a distance and reported it. School went into lockdown. She rushed out of the bathroom a few days later because she was scared the school was going to be locked down and she couldn't get back in her class.
I hate that kids have to deal with this.

I've said this before......will say it again.....
It's always the vulnerable, the unborn, the toddlers, the children, the elderly who are first to experience the brutality of a culture gone beserk.
All this senseless horrific violence against children, young women and fragile elderly can be traced back to one event - Roe v Wade January 22, 1973.
It was the prophet St. Mother Theresa of Calcultta who said it best. With pro-choice President Bill Clinton and FLOTUS Hillary looking on she didn't mince her words when she said - How do you expect people to respect each other on the streets, when you don't even respect the baby in the mother's womb?
That was roughly 40 million abortions ago.
All of this Life or Death choice will be decided on Tuesday,November 3, 2026.
Please America - choose Life.
