maybe more parents should be. Obesity is directly correlated to worse life outcomes.
I agree, but drugs and alcohol aren't? My post was a response to an idiotic statement. Being obese is bad, being an addict is worse.

Poor impulse control is linked with low IQ. There's a reason TV caters to the lowest common denominator. It's easy to make money off of borderline retards.
Obese people tend to be lower IQ.
Connect the dots.

This. Why pound out your hate for this group of people? What is you sin? Do you suppose it is better or worse than anybody else’s?

Not to pull away from your point
But this piqued my interest. My life experience shows me 80yr olds, alive, who were once addicts. However, don’t see too many obese 80yr olds, alive.
Zealot and arbiter of sin conceitedness underpinning OP’s post aside for a moment, obesity ain’t good premise ain’t wrong. And its severity (even relative to other addictions) should not be understated.

To be fair...they do have the best church dinners. I'll be attending a Baptist funeral in a couple of days. The meal after promises to be epic.

She has hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism does make it easy to gain weight and difficult to lose it. I lost my extra pounds when I was diagnosed and treated a few years ago.

It is very relevant that the Standard American Diet is literally poison on a plate.
If you aren’t paying very close attention to what you are eating, you are going to be ingesting a great deal of toxic garbage.

Drug addiction affects other people than the user in far worse ways than obesity, if y'all don't know that then you don't know much about drug addiction. My fat cousins have never had to be bailed out of jail, my addict cousin on the other hand has put his parents thru absolute hell.

Ever occur to you idiots that a lot of fat people have different genetics and therefore hormones, which make them crave food more than most thin people? But it's a lot damn harder for many people. It;;s a genetic adaptation for lean times.
Sure, eating fewer calories, you'll lose weight
It's the type of food more than anything that contributes to obesity.
Calories are calories, sure. That's a very basic level understanding of metabolism though. Certain calories are metabolized faster and do not provide satiety. This is why it's so easy to overconsume sugary foods. It's not just the taste. It's that a person is never satisfied. It only boosts their desire to eat more and the inevitable crash creates a more depressed state of mind that almost assures the cycle will continue.
Obesity is less about genes and more about choices.

Fair point! Hear you.
Adjacency and knock on effects are real!
Those aside, to keep to point, I believe obesity may be worse than addiction (to the individual’s (only) health / like for like).

Complications from diabetes and not dancing?
Kidding. No disrespect intended.

depends on why you are over weight. My mother eats like a bird, but never is able to lose much weight. Because she has hypothyroidism.
This can be corrected you know. My mom had her thyroid removed and takes sybthroid, she lost weight easily after that
