Susceptible to malpractice suits? Nope.
Then why did I have to go to a training about things parents could sue us for... fricking waste of time

As an engineer, I don’t attribute anything I learned about engineering to my high school teachers.
Same here, I came out of the womb knowing all there is about Trig and Calc and Dynamics and Energy and Motion—shite, I even figured out fluid dynamics in my kiddie pool at age five.
I don’t even know why they made me attend high school.
Foundations and fundamentals are for losers who aren’t gifted like us.
We’re a rare breed.
I am being sarcastic AF, btw.

There are bad teachers the same way there are bad doctors/lawyers/plant baws
Some people bitch about their jobs, some don't. Y'all spend way to much time talking about it though

quote:You said you taught engineers to make yourself feel more important. You don’t teach engineering. I didn’t learn engineering from my high school teachers. I didn’t learn it from my middle school teachers either. Or elementary teachers. How far back can a teacher claim credit for “teaching engineers and doctors?”
You teach fundamentals that can be applied to any number of fields. You can’t take credit for “teaching engineers” and then pretend that some of the kids you taught didn’t graduate high school and work at McDonald’s. Take credit for them too. If teaching the success stories is an example of your quality as a teacher then what do the failures represent?

They have to plan their day.
Get days off for teacher planning day.
Get off all major holidays.
Get around 2 months off for summer.
They still get vacation after that along with sick leave.
Oh the horror they should all get special participation awards for complaining worse than any other group of people.

I think the previous responses address your post pretty well, but in the spirit of fair play I say,
No thank you. I don't have the patience to deal with kids all day long.
Does that make it a hard job much less the hardest job on the planet? Get fricking real. You get no sympathy because you CHOOSE to be a teacher. You actually weights the pros and cons before you invested time and money into completing the required assets to become a certified teacher. Now you whine and moan about your choice.
I do believe professional educator is the only profession in the world that does this.

As a fellow engineer, I couldn't disagree with you more. Maybe you just went to a shitty high school though.
