As a female I found this thread to be sad. It doesn’t make me mad at any one particular person, but I hate watching women dog pile. Grown women.

If you don’t have anything nice to say…

I want to cry that you painted bamboo. The original color wasn’t good but a stain would have been the way to go.

I’ve been searching high and low for close to affordable bamboo furniture for our lakehouse for 2 years.

You painted bamboo!!!

Honestly I was going to reply that and decided to keep reading, thinking someone else had probably said it. Then realized all the posts were about anything but the topic.

I am personally not a huge fan of chalk paint, just don’t like the texture. I love the piece of furniture she redid, I would have probably done it a brighter color for fun, and some fun hardware.

Anyway. Bye

I can agree with that. The original piece wouldn’t go in my house because it’s the same color as my floors. Would love it in a different setting. That’s a really cool piece of furniture.

I asked if it was the same color as the wall and was going to suggest a darker grey for contrast but got attacked instead

but it is already painted now and I would not want to strip bamboo.
To be fair she is in Florida and there is some great furniture to be found there second hand with the elderly population.

I just want all black and white and gold. If it ain’t that I’m passing. Of course I’m saying this as I have cherry stained bedroom furniture and coffee side tables from 1975 in ugly arse wood stain.

I think this is common in Asia

High gloss Chinese Red and high gloss black lacquer were signs of wealth a few hundred years ago or more.

I’m decorating our lakehouse in a tropical style with bamboo & rattan mixed in with classic wood pieces. The master bedroom there is a Tommy Bahama bedroom set but I can’t justify spending that much for all the furniture so I’ve just picked up pieces here and there as I’ve found them.

My wine bar is gorgeous, though.

Funny bc that’s the first thing I thought of when I read she painted bamboo. Asian bamboo furniture just isn’t my style. It’s also much easier to find that stained bamboo.

Cheap too

Had a place in the 70's - 80's and did it in high English. Each room was a different part of the Empire. Doing the foyer and LR in China was the most expensive.

Yes! I am part of some Facebook groups and get genuinely jealous of some people’s FBMP finds in Florida.
