quote:

Professor Ilari Sääksjärvi, who worked on the study, said: “The stinger of the new parasitoid wasp called Clistopyga crassicaudata is not only long but also very wide, in comparison with the size of the species.

quote:

“I have studied tropical parasitoid wasps for a long time but I have never seen anything like it.

“The stinger looks like a fierce weapon.”

New species discovered in the Amazon.

not only does it sting you with ferocious vigor, it lays its eggs inside of you so the larvae can feast on your flesh as they hatch

Yep, venom kills the flesh so that larvae from eggs injected with the sting can feed on it.

I got stung three times over a few weeks, while mowing grass. The first time, I never saw anything and had no idea what even stung me (but it made my leg and ankle swell up and turn pretty red...lasted a while). The second time I was stung in the other leg. I saw them and found the nest, right after the second sting. I stopped mowing, grabbed whatever I could find (a fogger of some sort) and emptied the half full can on their asses. I got stung a third time in the process of spraying, in the head. After the third sting I decided to go in for the final kill shot. I snuck up from behind on the in-ground nest and fogged the shite of out it. I then stuck a rock over said nest, as I saw it just laying there. Wasps, hornets...whatever, they're all dead now.

Thank the maker than none of them looked like THAT though. I would not have lived to tell this tale.
