Only on reddit is this true.
I'm not close to a hipster and have been growing since last April. I'll trim back to my normal beard, of about a 1.5 months, once I reach a year.

Shut your whore mouth.
However,
The ruggedness of the beard is dying thanks to certain types sporting them.

this thread is idiotic. very idiotic. did civil war soldiers and frontiersmen wear affliction or the equivalent? i've had a beard for over 20 years, so frick off.

Real men shave every morning

First and foremost, I don't have a problem with people who grow beards. Just the douches that think they're some amazingly cool and awesome thing.
But referring to people like the OP was talking about, I see it as more of a hipster thing. "I can't play sports or get a girl to sleep with me, but I have a fricking beard! Look how manly I am because of my beard!"
That's how I view people that think beards are super manly and cool. Basically this guy.

You never really see anyone rocking this facial hair anymore.
Maybe in a few decades this look will be frowned upon too?

As soon as I retire out of the Army, I'm going to grow one of those goddamn beards.

Only if you're "a certain type." I'm comfortable in mine.

I'm of the type that will probably never be able to grow a beard...I've been told it's a blessing that I prolly won't be able to cause maintaining it and the itch that comes with it isn't with the trouble.

My beard hasn't itched since early college. And that was for a day or two Long long time ago.
I don't waste time in front of a mirror every morning after suffering through a few hours of itchy. But I know real men like to primp (see real men shave every day idiotic post).

is this what people at your high school say?

The way I look at it, I'm a trend setter for when the metro smooth shaven baby-face comes back. I'm so far behind on the beard thing that I'm ahead on the next trend. I couldn't grow a beard if I tried. I can barely grow a trash stache.

Chin straps don't count as beards, those are called douche ID cards.
I haven't shaved or trimmed in six months - I have a very full beard on my face and it's nice and warm on days where the mornings are below 50. Lots of ladies like it too. My job doesn't have facial hair guidelines either.
Sorry you never hit puberty.

I've had a beard for 10 years now.
No Crossfit.
I've been called a hipster by dumb people before though.
