The notes aren't bad depending on how you want to finance it. Any boat dealership offers up to 15 year financing, some even up to 20. Of course the interest you'll pay over that time will add up but if you're just looking at the note by itself you can buy a decent ski boat or fishing boat for 30-40k and keep the note around 250-300 a month

Depends on the boat. My bass boat payment is $500/month but most months I win that much or more in tournaments to cover it.

Last fall's hurricane in the Caribbean showed a chowder of boat in a harbor. Many of them were probably owned with notes and the owners expected to meet most of their note with rentals.

This sort of charter fleet sales used to be heavily marketed at the bigger blue water boat shows (Miami Beach's spring show comes to mind.)

If you cant buy a boat outright, you really can't afford it.

In the last year and a half I’ve written nearly a dozen citations for homeowners who have had a boat parked in their driveway without moving it for more than 30 days.

Finally, this is what police should be focused on. For goodness sake, please start fining those POS for parking in the street instead of their own fing driveways.

It’s like we tell people here, if you think your boat is going to get cozy in your driveway for what turns out to be in excess of 30 days, be prepared to pay the ultimate price. You jeapordize the safety and well being of an entire community when you pose a threat to everyone like that. There’s just too much at risk. It’s like I told one lady who’s husband was at work and the boat had just hit the 30 day mark, “Move it or lose it. I don’t write the rules, I just enforce them. You got a problem with following orders, I’ll have you and him standing tall before the man by 0800 if you don’t launch it, relocate it, or lend it to a friend.”

No one needs a boat. They're only for the military.

Couple of guys I went to high school with who are both ensign first class with the Cajun Navy have Gator Tails and outdrives fitted with 240G turrets on the bow, spotlights, and a drone landing pad over the port side ice chest(Yeti) bench. Those guys aren’t leaving their rigs in the driveway, I’ll put it to you like that.
