That doesn't mean at night. 30 minutes after dark is evening to me. Not defending the guy but it seems odd that they could prove that. Hunting on someone else's property is obviously a whole different issue

If I understood the article correctly he took it on land he did not have permission to hunt on. If that was the case and I was the landowner he would not get to keep the trophy.

Journalism has gone to shite. The article doesn't explain how in the hell they figured out a fricking thing other than talking to the adjacent landowner who probably had a case of the red arse.

Maybe you have to report What you kill to someone by a certain time?

So if he didn't report that the night before then he had to have shot it during illegal hours?

I'll repeat one more time, he admitted to taking the deer at night and agreed to the fine in a plea deal. They had him dead to rights for trespassing as well and a couple other charges, the trespassing would be a felony so he was looking at losing his gun ownership rights and took the deal.

So they were suspicious and he admitted to the deed as part of a plea bargain.

That’s fine, but that article makes it seem like the Facebook picture lead lead to the arrest, which makes no sense. The article also says he was hunting “without landowner consent” which is a weird way to describe a trespasser.

It's been big news over here in outdoor circles, the article in the OP sucks for sure. Just trying to pass along what's been reported, as soon as he posted pics shite started flying that something shady went down.

Yeah clearly the person who wrote had little interest in the story. I should'a been tipped off when the headline of the article said "278 point buck".
