Battery powered lawnmower....how to choose

I’ve been eyeing a 80v Greenworks. Rated one of the best.
It’s very hard to decide if worth the extra money these cost. I like that they are quieter and I can store upright but beyond that not sure what else they offer.
I have a really short blade Bermuda and I think my yard size with be fine.
For those that switched to battery what made you switch? Are you still happy you did?

how to choose
You don’t. Get the biggest, baddest gas chugging mower you can find. How can you assert dominance if you don’t wave and roll coal while your neighbors drive by?

Have a greenworks mower. Wife is afraid of gas for some reason.
It's shitty. Get a gas mower.

We got one for the office (Kobalt 80V Max) so we didn't have to worry about keeping gas here and it works great. Very quiet and have never had to worry about the battery going out. It also kicks into another speed if it starts bogging down.
If I had a smaller yard I might consider one at the house but definitely not anything bigger than 1/3 acre.
I did end up getting the weed eater and blower in the same brand and series and don't regret it at all. 1 battery is enough to weed eat my 1/2 acre property and blow the driveway and back patio off with still 1/3 battery left.

I had a 40v Ryobi. Was powerful enough and usually could do the whole yard in one battery. The main selling point for me was having the same battery for the mower, weed eater and blower.

Yeah. But it will cost you your testicles.

80v Kobalt is much better than the 80v Greenworks. Better build quality and cut. I have first hand experience with both. Batteries last longer with the Kobalt as well.

I have the kobalt 80v. I bought it because it was time buy a mower, and my wife needed to mow the grass a time or two. Instead of Fielding calls about her flooding the engine/forgetting how to prime, I figured push-button start and a relatively light chassis with fwd made it a winner.
I think it was $499. A rock-bottom gas mowers is cheaper. For me, it was worth $200ish to not have her fiddle with gas and use the same battery as a weed eater (I much prefer electric weed eaters to gas, even for me).
If you're really thrifty and have a small yard, corded electric mowers are very cheap, as cheap or even cheaper than a gas one. Try it if you want to learn how big pain in the arse it can be, but if you want the peace of mind of not storing gas, push-button start, you're either willing to pay about $200 for it or not.
I'm about a 1/4 acre lot with trees and landscaping, so probably cutting about 1/2 of that. I've never used more than 50% of the battery. Noise is probably still about like that of a vacuum cleaner. You'll still likely kill it to talk on the phone. Weight really isn't much different than gas because the battery is pretty heavy.
I like it. I would buy it again

Neighbor has one. Can’t even get through his yard once and we don’t have big lots. It’s shite! Get a gas mower the way God intended.

E-Go, Sthil, and snapper are the best for mid-duty push. The key to electric is keeping the blade sharp.

I've got the 60v Greenworks and am very happy. I switched mostly for not having to deal with gas - no half-empty cans in the garage, no winterizing and carb-cleaning, I can just tip the mower on its side to clean the blade. And push the button, it starts or it needs charging - no trouble-shooting needed.
Quieter is nicer too, but it does still make some noise. Not enough to make me want to use hearing protection, but a little more annoying than I had anticipated.

Get one of those robot lawnmowers and sit out front in your bath robe and watch itmow the yard for you like my 80 year old neighbor does. That man has the look of pure joy and accomplishment while sipping his morning cup of joe

Check out the Snapper 82v lineup. It's essentially the same as the Kobalt 80v's but Kobalt took away the ability to add standard attachments to their weed eater which is sketchy AF.
The Snapper 82v's are a little cheaper for some reason but both the Kobalt 80v and Snapper 82v are good options imo. The EGO 56v is the goat weed eater but their mower isn't quite up to par.

Learn to work on a small engine you pussy. It’s a right of passage.
If you can’t clean a carb by 40 you forfeit your man card.
