If I'm not mistaken, Swaggart at one time owned the land that is now the Mall of Louisiana, and Perkins Rowe.
Correct. He bought up all that land when it was nothing but woods!

Swaggart’s family is asking for prayers during this difficult time

I thought he died years ago.

Given all the stealing and grifting he did at the expense of the poor, the elderly, and the low-IQ, hopefully he stays in cardiac arrest

Anyone from Ferriday will tell you, Jimmy could play the piano better than both his cousins.

When I was in Australia back in March I was flipping through the satellite channels and lo and behold, I find ol' Jimmy on the Sonlife Network over there. I couldn't believe it. I guess the dude still has some reach.

You’re right, but conversely, men of God are not God, but those in need of a savior and forgiveness, as are you and me, and if we don’t forgive men of their sins, will we be forgiven of ours?
The inevitable Christian reply - I believe, therefore I can do whatever and be forgiven. Hell, who wouldn't be a Christian/Muslim/etc? It's worked for ya'll. Billions bought in.

Sometimes God uses flawed people to do his work. Jimmy Swaggart is one. He saved literally countless souls in this world whatever his faults are/were and we know he has plenty.

You don't have to be a Christian to understand Christianity BUT it would be helpful if you understood it before criticizing it.
That is simply how it works.

We are all flawed to some extent.

Very knowledgeable of Christianity.
Nice non-rebuttal rebuttal.

You still got it wrong. You don't know what you don't know.
We are to turn away from our sins. We will continue to sin because we are flawed. That is not a ticket to continue on the same path. We are to try.
Continuing to do wrong when I know better will be held against me. Maybe even a sign that I have not really accepted God nor Jesus.
Does the above sound familiar? Very different from what you provided.
If what you believe were true I would be high as a kite right now and shagging a whore or slut.

Try?I got to try not to frig before marriage? I got to try not to be a racist? I got to try not to sin when that precious book tells me exactly what I should and shouldn't do?

So Jimmy boy didn't know he was doing wrong when he used money to buy a ultraexpensive doghouse, or pay for sex or a brand new Lincoln?

Getting high is a sin? Where does it say that in the Bible? Shagging a whore? What do we call the shagger? Oh, I know - a man of GOD!

Very knowledgeable of Christianity.
I studied several bibles before deciding on the best version. Then I studied under 3 Drs. of theology. I somewhat confident in my understanding.
I've studied 6 Christian religions too.

Little hint. It doesn't say anything about drinking.
quote:I didn't say that. Jimmy will have to answer for that.

You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. Maybe that's how you got that username?
Get back to me when you learn a little something about what you criticize.

The Bible clearly states to avoid drinking too much wine.
Jimmy doesn't have to worry about anything. He accepted Jesus as his savior and is therefore secure in his accession to the land of milk and honey. Jimmy believes this with all of his heart. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he also believed he had an ace up his sleeve - I am a MAN OF GOD.
And your "IF he continues to do it" says enough.

I was watching Golden Girls the other night and they had a Jimmy Swaggart joke. This was in the late 80’s. Had you told me he would’ve outlived all four GG’s, I would’ve never believed you.
