Oh go kick dirt. Not a damn thing wrong. With parents going to grab a lunch sometime with their young kids. I used to do it on some of my off Fridays.
So you think with a few hundred kids in a cafeteria that there is a problem with 10 to 12 parents showing up? LOL
In the real world not everyone works a 8 to 5 or at a plant. Lots of people in sales, have their own businesses, have flex schedules. And yes the stay at home moms count too. The kids love when their parents come by for lunch

It's much easier to continue to play victim than actually put the effort into raising a child.

Just to see if we are on the same page here, you know all these panelists were from BESE (Louisiana Board of Elem. and Sec. Education. Not the EBR school board right?
That's not true about the panelists they invited.

The real question is should Glen Oaks and McKinley have brand new schools built?
Thats what they want and they tapped James Gilmore to lead the charge. "Dr." Gilmore recently with $1 million served 65 Baton Rouge youth. Imagine what he could do if he got his hands on part of the $93 million!

Doesn't matter. It was a forum on the proposed taxes and EBR NEVER fails to vote in another tax.
Same problem with the mayoral race, no one showed up to vote except democraps.

Do you ever stop to think that some (most) of these EBR public school parents cannot just leave their hourly job

My daughter goes to private in BR and we can eat lunch with her any day that we want. I've never seen less than 10-12 parents in the cafeteria on some random Tuesday much less an event like Thanksgiving.
It's sad that some people don't give a shite about their kid's education and development. Just perpetuating the cycle of poverty
In lower income areas this is an awful example of parents not caring about their child's education. But carry on

I'm sorry but this is just strange. Coming in for a special occasion is a great thing, but just randomly coming in and having lunch with your kid on a regular basis? Wouldn't the kids be better off having lunch with each other and socializing rather than being coddled by their parents?
Exhibit "A"
EBR Public Schools..

Wow a bunch of private school kids have parents that can afford to either not work or take time off work, and have a mode of transportation to visit school whenever they want...
Do you ever stop to think that some (most) of these EBR public school parents cannot just leave their hourly job and find a way to make it to their child's school in the middle of the day? That doesn't mean they "don't give a shite".
Sure, some of those EBR public school parents are bad at parenting. But I bet you have some bad parents at your private school as well.
Shut the frick up. Most of them are at home drinking or smoking. They quite literally do not give a shite.

The public schools in NOLA have the same issue.. I can remember playing football against some of those schools, and there would be 40-50 kids on one of the teams, but then you look in the stands and see about 8-15 parents up there.. and this was at 7:00 on a Friday night usually..
It’s completely pathetic that these ‘parents’ just DGAF about their children (I know that not all cases are this way, but safe to say this applies to an overwhelming majority)
yup.
i went to a Varsity Basketball game at the 5A Texas public school my wife teaches at (it's in the ghetto part of the district). Last year they were
a nationally ranked squad and most of them went on to play college ball. This year, they were still #1 in the their district at that point. There were about 200 people in the stands against a district rival. I was mind fricked. The tiny private school I went to back in the day wouldn't have an empty seat in the building for a district game on Friday night like that.
The wife also coaches/sponsors the varsity cheer team. Parents are never involved. Maybe 1-2 on a squad of 15 girls. She has to call and beg parents to pay fees and for uniforms. Some won't, so their children have to get jobs and miss practices to save up to pay the fees. Other girls have to quit because Mom and Dad can't afford or won't budget $150 for their daughters to cheer. It's heartbreaking.
All me and my wife's dealings with that school make me realize why abortion is absolutely necessary for some parts of society and should be encouraged.

Another week goes by and St. George is licking their chops. They got this in the bag.

The only thing keeping the EBR school system afloat are the elementary schools, some of which are pretty decent. From the middle school level up it’s pure shite — mainly because that’s when many parents (such as myself) put their kids in private.
I go eat lunch with my son a few times a year — used to do the same thing with my daughter — and he loves it. Funny how whenever I go all the kids suddenly want to be his best friend and sit by us at the lunch table. They look up at me like I’m a giant.

This is why I don’t feel sorry for them. They think bitching on twitter will fix their cultural problems.

Failing schools in majority black areas is solely due to the lack of giving a shite in the community. It won't change until the culture changes. Throwing money at it won't fix it
