Baton Rouge will never peak higher as a city than when they had a professional hockey team

Unpopular opinion: hockey is by far the best sport to watch in person

BR was better in the 80s than the 90s. I don't remember it prior to the 80s.

Nothing better than a late 90s Saturday of playing Ocarina of Time all day then Dad bringing you to the Kingfish game with your buds that night.

I saw a kingfish t shirt in the window of that store across from chimes a few months back. My favorite birthday as a little kid was to a kingfish game.

When I went to Nashville a couple of years ago we went to a Preadators game. It was absolutely electric the entire game.

It's pretty sad that late 90s pictures and videos look so retro now though

I remember going to the opening game of Tupelo's pro team and the whole thing being bizarre. Granted it was after attending a University with multiple national D1 titles but your think being able to switch direction would be the bare minimum to play. They lost by double digits after MAYBE scoring a goal in front of a crowd of maybe 200. Let's just say I perfectly understood why Atlanta lost their team so quickly.

BR in the early 90’s. Don Carter’s, Celebration Station and Cortana Mall. Plus, no one wore LSU gear. It was all Florida State, Miami and Notre Dame gear. Back when Starter jackets, Girbaud Jeans and Jordans were a thing.

I hate hockey pretty hard, but went to a KF game once for a bachelor party and it was pretty fricking awesome. There were like four fights and Cam Brown was beating the shite out of everybody that looked at him crooked.

I still don’t like hockey but it’s pretty fun live if there are fights.

ETA: pretty sure they played the Ice Gators so there was lots of bad blood.

I remember smuggling in catfish one night with some buddies to throw on the ice in case someone had a hat trick. Didn’t happen so we threw them out there anyway. That was my last Kingfish game.
