Good point. Used to be the bad areas were reserved to “the other side of the tracks” but in BR and Nola the crime has broken containment and spread like wildfire.

Shreveport is the bigger shithole.

Both suck but BR at least has something going for it with regards to employment and culture.

So, if you haven’t traveled or spent any time there recently, politely STFU. SHV has its bad areas…. So don’t go to the bad areas! But it got some really nice ones too. It’s laid out a helluva lot better than BTR & road infrastructure in the SBC wasn’t designed by a 5 year old. SHV IMHO has a lot more potential than BTR if they could get decent leadership in Mayor’s office. It won’t be done overnight though. Thank God the area has Barksdale AFB.

Yeah Barksdale and the USAF isn’t impressed with Shreveport or Bossier. It’s recognized as one of the worst bases you can be assigned.

fricking ridiculous take. Probably have never set foot in the damn city. How about don’t go to hood rat areas like every other fricking city has problems with?

Baton Rouge shooters are better marksmen. That’s about it.

I mean there are rolling shoot outs in Shreveport that turns it into a war zone.

BR used to be this way but they have allowed the thugs to take over. If property owners were the ones that voted it would be a great city.

Yep that’s my neighborhood, only Few streets over. I still feel completely safe because that is what we refer to as an outlier. Has never happened in my neighborhood and likely to never happen again.

As one who is from Baton Rouge and spends considerable time in Shreveport as work territory, Baton Rouge is basically Shreveport with much more traffic, the state capitol, LSU, and Southern.

I have friends that live on Delaware St (one street over) and there are cars getting broke into, gun shots in the evenings. It maybe an outlier for that particular street but it happens all over Shreveport it seems like, except the southern loop.

Don't get me wrong, we go over there quite often to eat at superior and I don't ever feel unsafe but I personally wouldn't want to live over there or let my kids roam around on their bikes and take that risk.

I live in Central Florida my man so not really?

I love that state. I love the people. I love the hunting and fishing. I love lsu. I love crawfish. I love the quarter. I truly love Louisiana. I miss my family. I miss Alex box stadium. My son won't fish hopedale or Toledo bend growing up. My daughter won't go Saturdays in the fall dreaming of being a golden girl.

Personally I feel robbed. I feel like my home was ruined before I ever even got a chance to start my family.

It simply became too expensive and dangerous with children for my wife and I.

We're quitters. We pulled the plug for more money and better schools. I wish I had the gall to stay and fight to fix it but then Allison Rice happens and I look into the eyes of my three year old daughter and frankly I chose her over that state and the rest of my family.

I hate it, I wish I could go home. But we'll never return at this pace.

Your friend should not mistake gunshots in Allendale and West Shreveport for gunshots in south highlands. Also if you’re looking for the city where people don’t pull on car doors to see who left theirs unlocked, good luck because they hardly exist. That shite happens in South Shreveport too
