Looking to purchase a couple suits here in the next few weeks. Nothing elaborate and will not be wearing them regularly. Will definitely need to be tailored.

Does the OT have any recommendations? I saw Martinez got some pretty stout ratings, but wanted to explore my options. Caught a TD thread from back in 2010 on google, but figured the choices would obviously be different now.

What can one expect to pay to have a couple of suits tailored? (Assuming suits are anywhere in the $300-$600 range)

inb4 tree fiddy or $3.50

In Dallas I pay somewhere around $80-100 to have a full suit tailored. Would think it wouldnt be to dissimilar in BR

Old Rough and Ready is probably the most famous Baton Rouge Taylor

My brother and a couple of my buddies swear by Martinez. I’ve never been myself, but I do know that when Saben coached at LSU he ordered a new Sports Coat for each home game from there.

It’s my understanding that though his prices are on the upper end, they are still reasonable for quality work. But if you go crazy with high end fabrics and such then he can also make your gold card hurt.

I'll check them out and see how they price out.

I'm likely going to hit Dillards for their semi-annual sale after Christmas to see what I can find. Like I said, the material/brand shouldn't be too elaborate

He still gets all of his suits from there.

Martinez doesn’t do tailoring work on off the rack suits. Or maybe he has started to, but I know for a fact that at one time he wouldn’t work on something you brought in.

He does at least for overcoats.

Manuel Martinez is an old client of mine. Bit of an a-hole, but his suits are top notch

ETA: nah, I can’t lie. He’s a world class a-hole

The most bang for your buck, is to check out the “Dirty Dillards” aka Cortana, on a Tuesday, since they are closed on Mondays and are stocking the truck that came in. Most of their suits are 50-70% off. I saw a Hickey Freemen that was $1500, marked down to $500. There are plenty other nice ones for less than $300.

Then, take the suit to either Oscar off Highland (North gates) or Hai at Golden Needle (Staring & Highland).

No reason to pay through the nose for a quality suit, tailored for you. Good luck.
