Baton Rouge restaurant manager arrested, allegedly tried to bribe his way out of fines

BATON ROUGE - The manager of a seafood restaurant was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly tried to bribe a city-parish investigator to get out of paying fines.

Arrest documents said QuingQi Wu, 38, tried to offer about $4,500 "under the table" to an Alcoholic Beverage Control agent in order to avoid the fines at his restaurant on College Drive, Juicy Seafood.

Not in any way associated with Roul's Deli....

Wtf, that name is very unappealing to me. Come eat my juicy, moist, dripping seafood.

From what I hear it's actually decent for the price.

Problem is that the crowds are more like Red Lobster than a local seafood place, though. Lots of cursing, lots of overweight people, and lots of bad tipping. Which means the employees are probably not great. All that will change when inflation nudges their pricing upward bit by bit.

So....maybe worth a try.

Seafood

I'd question the meat contents of those catfish tenders. Might be more cat than fish.

I thought bribing health inspectors was completely normal.

Otherwise a lot of places would be out of business.

I have trust issues when it comes to Azns running seafood joints. Even more skeptical out here on the best coast. But I fux with the Viet community back home.

I'm more surprised it was for an ABC violation and not a health code violation

Still not happy that Covid killed Don Jose’s and replaced it with another shorty boiled seafood restaurant.

Given where this is, it is probably the same people who owned and operated Great Wall, which had its own set of health issues.

One Chinese restaurant in BR got caught with a side of dog in their freezer back in the 90s, which they claimed was for personal consumption.

Competing restaurant Shing’s also used to advertise they had never been shut down by the board of health, which just makes you want to go to any Asian buffet around here.

you’ve never tried squab? I doubt what they found in the freezer was the pigeons you see eating trash in Jackson square.

There is an Italian restaurant here in the mission district that I’ve ordered it from before.

Going to Coffee Call was the first time I saw Juicy Seafood and thought the same thing. I mean if my seafood is juicy that may not be a good thing. Then I saw the majority of the customers that were coming in and out of the place followed by the owner being QuingQi Wu and it makes perfect sense now. Add in the fact that he tried to bribe a city official and it makes it even better. Wow.
