Gibson Poboys on Winborne.
Legit burgers, fries, and shakes. Roastbeef poboy was as good as any in town.

The 18 hole par 3 lighted golf course on Greenwell Springs road. I think they made every mistake possible when designing and constructing that place.

I haven't been there since 1984 '85. And when I went I rarely remember leaving. We were always the only white guys there.

I watched Andrew blow the roof off of the IHOP whilst getting hammered on the back porch of Chateau Smith. One of my profs got botulism from a baked potato at the old Wendy's. Rally burger was a go to, .69 burgers. Got mugged at the taco bell drive thru north of campus. Super fresh was the nastiest grocery store I've ever been in.

my grandfather's grocery store, "service grocery", on east blvd near the I10 overpass. one of the last full service cut-to-order open counter butcher shops in the city
we basically grew up inside that store
drove past it the other day...really depressing
just looked up the address, i think it's now called "leo service market", 945 east blvd. just a ghetto convenience store now...

The old metal Slide that was across from the McDonalds in Robert E Lee shopping center. You would slide down in on a cloth sack.

Yes. Was next to a TG&Y.
Close but not quite. They had a SuperFresh next to it and an Eckerd Drugs next to that. It was where they now have St. Vincent DePaul and a Dollar General.

Mrs.. Winners chicken had a weird taste to it. I don't know if it was the batter they used or the oil or what. I used to make my sister gag saying I was gonna make her eat a leg from Mrs. winners.

I miss the cartoon booths that were inside the store. A kid could pay a quarter to watch a clip of Tom and Jerry or The Flintstones!

Another place I spent quite a lot of $ back in the day was Sugars on Tom Dr... home of the sinfully sweet Sugars dancers... their motto was something like, "Home of 15 beautiful girls and 3 ugly ones"
Suthern Kumfort on Airline was another good one

wasn't the original on gov't across from BRHS?
Yes, it was. We used to hit the Byronz in Village Square quite frequently after work. We also used to hit POETS and the Caterie for Happy Hour BITTD.
