Vince's -- I lived near Laura Lea as a kid and went to the little store all the time. But I never ate at Vince's restaurant (too poor).
We have had this conversation before.
Mr. Vince was a good guy.
I used to do some work for him. He owned that whole building and ran the restaurant and convenience store. He leased the bar room.. Damn what was the name of it. Had some good time there.
The restaurant was damn good as well. Ate lunch there a few times. Italian, all I ever got was the spaghetti.
A few other place on top of my head.
Sports Page
Papa Joes - Gregg Wright on Friday night
Tiger Lair - in the apartments at Tigerland.
Shakeys - The place for Pizza
New Generation - Remember the $3.99 top ten albums each week.

$.99 NIGHT get it right. Man we waited for Tuesdays like crazy. My bus stop was actually in the parking lot of the Showbiz on Perkins(it's now Marty J's). We'd look at the posters on windows. I remember Robocop was new and hot shite one year. 87?

John Mahaffey used to hang out there. Lisa and Randy were a little younger than me but we went to school together. Had another brother that is a musician.
Later, at the bar of the old Cotton Club, when they used to have to send someone down from the station to fetch him to come do the 10:00 news.

Going to Fort Walton Beach on the old road with the old man yelling "god dammit- put that window up. You are letting all the smoke out." as he lit another Salem
My mother bringing me to Fleur De Lis when I was 12 to pick the old man up on Friday night. Dropping me off, saying I had to be home in 30 minutes and leaving. My old man new when I walked in it was last call and his 12 year old kid was driving him home so he would give me a dollars worth of quarters for pinball and order another drink. When my games were up we went home.
Welp. I got nothin on that.
Do you think your mom was hurrying up to Meet "Jody" when she dropped you off?

Tiger Lair. 1979 my roommate and I used to go there for Happy Hour like on. Monday. We would grab a beer downstairs and go upstairs to play pool. No one was up there and the beer taps were on. We woul buy two rounds downstairs and gave another 10 beers upstairs.
It was wrong but fun.

May be the same place.
They had THE BEST BBQ beef sandwich in town.
And they owned the snoball stand further down the parking lot.

Is the baseball/comic shop still on Sherwood by the old taco bell (think Dunkin Donuts now)? I spent some days in that place as a kid.

First time there was 1993. I ordered a Screw Driver.
