Are you all saying that race relations, community development, and revitalization of North Baton Rouge do not need to be addressed?

No we're saying the process by which it is done needs to be handled properly. Demonizing SBR and whites to build up NBR is not the way to handle it.

On the NBR revitalization committee, is that that same Tyrus Thomas that played basketball at LSU?

I know SWB rode with the police to a gain a perspective on what they go through on a daily basis, but I'd like to see her also spend a day or two with Gravy so that she'll understand to put the kibosh on that miserable m'fer.

Level the playing field? The "playing field" is level for everyone who wants to work hard and get off their couch!!

Gravy on IT....A computer isn't edible so that fat slob doesn't know what to do with it.

Also, Tyrus Thomas on North BR revitalization.....is that THE Tyrus Thomas?

ETA

TT question already answered. I hope having a known figure will help that effort....but I doubt it.

Yeah. We can conclude something isn't right with AS's brain.

Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome receives transition team recommendations

State of the Issue

The issues in North Baton Rouge are addressed throughout
this document. Major issues revolve around the declining
economy and population and the attending divestments
that follow them. To that end, our Sub-committee has
concentrated on safe neighborhoods, healthy living,
economic investments, and the retention and strengthening
of existing businesses and attractions.

North Baton Rouge

is not only a food desert, but also an education desert, a healthcare desert, and an economic development desert.
Oftentimes, when people do not have access to jobs and
income opportunities, they turn to crime in order to provide for their families.

A quick search revealed their are 53 jobs posted on Indeed for the 70805 zip code. They may not be the job that most people desire, but had most of the people in this area put in the required work to get a better paying job, they likely wouldn't be in the position that they're in.

quote:

Today most people agree that North Baton Rouge is defined as everything north of Florida Blvd and south of Thomas Road. Many of North Baton Rouge’s businesses have relocated south or have closed their doors. North Baton Rouge has been in a slow decline over the past thirty years. During this period the area lost two emergency
rooms and a hospital, including the closures of Earl K. Long Hospital/Emergency Room and the Baton Rouge General
Emergency Room. Major vendors at the area’s two largest
retail centers did not renew leases, thus causing Bon Marche Mall to close and Cortana Mall to decline. In the early 90’s, North Baton Rouge had grocery stores that offered healthy produce. Today North Baton Rouge is considered a food desert because most area grocery stores closed their doors.

The Piggly's Wiggly's is upset.

I have often wondered since Alton got himself killed....when the black community will realize that white knighting for a convicted felon who was generally an a-hole is a bad look.

This goes to a greater point and that is perception of racism. They watched a video and perceived something much as they do about racism. They can't really point to evidence, they just feel it to the point where they "know" it's there.

You mean businesses don't like being in areas where rampant theft and violence occur?

Precisely. Black people (especially these in power in Baton Rouge) want to demonize the police, white people, and thriving businesses all while asking for help to progress their cause? It's moronic. North Baton Rouge, and areas like Cortana used to be a thriving area, once the blacks moved in, business goes down, crime goes up, and smart people get the hell out. I'm so sick of hearing this bs. How bout stop killing each other? How bout stop having 7 children on welfare and buying the new Jordan's or iPhone that comes out. How bout just stop making your bad decisions my problem. And before you say I'm white privileged, why don't you read this post as if I'm a black guy that was raised well, put himself through school, and hates being lumped in to the Gary Chambers of the world.

I think we are starting to have to ask this question.

What parish that borders EBR isn't better than EBR? I'm sure there are a few.

I would have never guessed 20 years ago that within 20 years BR would let itself become a less desirable place to live than Lafayette and Lake Charles....but that's where we are lads.
