He probably took 8 hits because his tolerance was high. If anyone has tried to trip multiple days in a row knows that you have to take a lot more than normal.

Yes I've done acid more times than I can count back in the day. I've also tried to trip multiple days in a row and you have to eat insane amounts for it to work somewhat . That's probably why he went off the deep end from a combination of tripping too long and too much acid

But 8 hits is ridiculous. I did two hits on a deep woods camping trip in college and convinced myself that the Ents from The Lord of the Rings were real. I can't imagine what 8 hits would do.
