Another issue I see is that his little 1' berm didn't cause any real impact to the water level.

It sounds like it’s already been settled in court
Apparently nobody on this website knows how to read

The ongoing fight is spelled out in a court judgment that was signed in favor of Baton Rouge in April.
the parish is now in the process of hiring a contractor to remove Guidry's levees after getting that signed court judgment

Private property rights are slowly, but surely, getting eroded all across this country. The over-development around him and inaction from the city to clear existing drainage paths has led to his property being a huge flood concern.
I get the point of enforcing codes around development and drainage therein, but they really caused this to happen to him so he had to protect his property.
I hope he fights this hard. I'd love an outcome be an agreement to remove the berm if the city clears the existing drainage paths.

Didn't read whole thread, sounds like he's moving. Oh well.
Here comes a shitty development made out of cardboard that will deteriorate in 10 years and become an eyesore.

Anyone have pictures of this? Or how to find it on aerial view? Not from BR.

You’re absolutely right and it (property rights/ability to “own” your land) is often overlooked when talking about what makes America America. Most talk about the 1st and 2nd amendment or the 4th but being able to own your own piece of land has been a bedrock of the American experience.
It has been taken away from us with property taxes. So realistically we don’t own anything anymore unfortunately. We’re just renting from the government via property taxes and they’ll be glad to take your property from you over not paying these taxes or other government overreaches and then sell for pennies to one of their cronies.

I’m sure someone else will buy it and build a neighborhood though
Don’t worry, they will pull dirt “from the same flood plain” so there “will be no impact on flooding” due to them raising his property 5 feet.

its at the northwest corner of Williw Grove next to the railroad track. I'd like to own it and build a small house on pilings.
also I wouldn't say promptly sued...sounds like those levees have been there up to 19 years.

It's several acres. But I think he just built a small berm around his house....not his whole property. You can actually see it on street view at the far end of Silo drive in Willow Grove.
Lol, you can actually see a dump truck dumping more dirt for his levee!
You can see his house is in a hole.

Says he is next to willowgrove subdivision by wards creek. Looked at google maps and he is likely on the right side of willow grove opposite side then Dunham. That are is low an likely flooded a few weeks ago with the flooding of wards creek. Development or not. That flood would have for him. Same for the 16 flood

Everyone around him is at 25-30 feet. He is at 20 feet. No shite he’s gonna flood he built in a damn bowl.
Good luck ever having gotten approved for a permit building a system to get rid of capacity in a flood way.

Well there’s a reason he did it all without getting a permit

they'd require that he build up the house pad to a higher elevation to meet newer standards.
Would t that just be a berm or levee filled in?
Yes. And goes to show we really don’t actually own our property. If we did we could build whatever the frick we want however we want it
Posted on 7/15/21 at 12:13 pm to jimbeam
yea, it's a great piece of land for fun but not for avoiding increasing flood issues

Leave this man alone and frick off, EBRP.

Did he break the ordinance/law? You have a local government, you can’t do what you want even if you own your land. If he broke a law/ordinance, take it down because you shouldn’t have done that.
Should the city make him take it down? Hell no but elections have consequences.

Ok, now apply this to all the land developers around this man's property.
