OLOL shut down three CV units and are opened two back up yesterday as COVID units, I think there are 48 beds between the two.

The testing site referred to here is not Baton Rouge General's. It is a community effort by the General, Ochsner, OLOL, Woman’s, and BR Clinic. It just happens to be located on BR General property. It was created when there was very limited testing available in the community.
In the past two weeks testing has become available at each of the local hospitals making the need for this community test site much less. They are reducing hours because the demand isn’t there to justify 5 days per week testing at that site. Limiting testing there also preserves PPE and other resources.

According to my doctor the testing takes so long for patients that aren’t in the ICU that it isn’t worth testing. He says it’s over a week turn around time right now

The LSU vet school is doing the for OLOL patients now. Turn around time is ~24 hours. They have actual virologists there and the reports are impressive as they have negative test results, positive test results, and indeterminate results where there is virus present but below the threshold to consider infected and subsequently recommend repeat testing in 48 hours. I personally wonder if these last group will be the asymptomatic carriers or are just pre clinically infected.

I think it’s just a poorly written article. They are reopening parts of Mid City because they are expecting a surge.
Meanwhile, they are limiting hours at the testing site because it’s becoming less useful.

which is 500 less than they had when both were operational. fact is we're going to hit peak this week and the stay at home is working so there isn't as much demand. this is a good thing.
