It won't be like the economy of Mogadishu in the 1990's but it will be close.

Does LSU do something similar about getting the good seats?

Every big time program does this

Walt is sweating no football this fall. Bigtime. His plans and budgets never, ever took into consideration to losing this revenue. His budgets are built on revenue growth for the city based on continued growth of football and the university. They have over built apartments in this city and still building. Kids do not show this fall, on-line classes. Whooo baby1

BR has a shite ton of problems, but this isn't one of them. This is going to be a huge problem for everywhere that has a big time sports team, whether it NBA, NFL, college football, etc. Not only do the teams themselves employ hundreds, but thousands more are a part of a micro economy. It's going to cost several thousands of jobs and 10s of millions of dollars.

Honestly, just asking... as i have zero clue on the subject matter but...

How much taxpayer money goes into a game?

Like, overtime for police and on sight medics?

LSU as a whole is not a soley private institution and I figure TAF pays for a good bit. Just curious.

But to the subject at hand, LSU campus becomes bigger than most other La. Cities on game day.. that's a ton of alcohol, food, water, memorabilia sales for sure lost

I assume its paid for by TAF, not the city or EBR. Even if it is paid for by taxpayer dollars, its generating more in revenue for the city and parish than that stuff is costing. That I can nearly guarantee.

I know you're talking about impact to the economy.

But think about the impact to your sports program.

Football and Men's Basketball are the revenue sports. Football much more so than Basketball, at least at Alabama, and I'm sure it's similar at LSU.

I'm pretty sure every single other sport operates at a loss.

So imagine what "no football" really means to the average athletic department.

I don't see how we can't have football.

Louisiana should have diversified it’s economy beyond O&G a long time ago. No excuse not to have other economic strengths besides petro. The fact that there’s a thread on the impact of a college football team not playing could be detrimental to a city with a metro pop of 830k is very very telling.

Again, what deck hand fricked your wife while you had to watch? You’re still obsessed with this state despite moving away?

Yes Louisiana should’ve diversified it’s economy many years ago. It didn’t. Same could be said for Detroit, but it didn’t either.

The city that is home to the states flagship university is dependent on that university for its financial health? Who’d have thunk it? I guess Tuscaloosa didn’t get the memo either.

And while you’re thinking about Jody long dicking you’re old lady, tell us what industry we should adopt or promote to replace oil and gas. We’re open to your input.

Football, baseball, basketball (M & W), gym, and another women's sport. That's the most that survives without a football season. If that can't be sustained, then that third women's sport is gone and and decide whether you're going to kill baseball or men's BB to make Title IX happy.

East Coast yes we have Tradition Fund — not surebhow that was handled for baseball but time will tell for football. Likely wouldn’t get TF back but if they'd offer it yes I’d take it back.

Eta I found this on the rant from May 20: “Thats wrong, TAF donations related to baseball tickets were refunded, but they did give you an option to donate anyway.”

So who knows. Time will tell.

For the 1st time in forever I have zero plans to watch LSU at TS with all the dumb shite going on. I’m not talking about the Corona either.

My whole excitement of both games and tailgating were an escape from most of the shitty things that come with reality.

With that being said, when players start making demands after YEARS of donations and supporting their right to be paid as student athletes they start acting like entitled punks. I’m good.

To answer your question directly I will probably upgrade my outdoor kitchen and possibly buy a boat. We shall see.

ETA: From a donation standpoint I will probably allocate my money to more veteran causes.

LSU is huge part of Baton Rouge's economy. You take away LSU then what the frick is left that makes Baton Rouge tolerable? That's why are laugh my arse off every time they threaten to close LSU. I'm like...
