Hell, people have been antsy in this town for years because they suspect something will happen.

We had a massive stampede a few years back when an Instagram thot had a meet and greet at Mall Of LA because someone knocked over a chair in the food court and everyone assumed it was a gunshot.

People perceived the city as unsafe and associated it with a certain element. That element is proving them correct, as the vast majority of those murders are occurring in NBR and have one group as both the killer and victim.

It becomes my problem when I’m at target on a weekday grabbing a few items during lunch and two people get shot outside at the ihop next door. Especially when I get stuck in the parking lot for 40 minutes because police have to lock down the area and get crime tape up.

The shite isn’t confined to the bad parts of town anymore

Or when some innocent motorist catches a stray from a hail of bullets driving down Airline at 9am. It's happening all over S BR too now.

I updated the OP. I think we’re at 139. Is that correct after everything that happened yesterday?

The EBR Coroners website has the homicide count at 140. Perhaps there was a murder that wasn’t reported, or the office classified the Longridge DV murder suicide as a double homicide as opposed to it only counting as a single tally. Suicide does not affect the homicide count.

Quit watching the news and you’ll be less concerned about things that wouldn’t matter anyway.

I don’t know any of the victims either, but you can no longer turn a blind eye to what is happening in BR and where it is happening. I didn’t care either as long as the murders were taking place in NBR. That is no longer the case.

Let’s not forget the shooting at the College Dr and Jefferson Hwy intersection. An innocent motorist could have easily been hit over what? Absolutely senseless.

The Jefferson Hwy condominium murder that occurred a few years back when a Vietnamese girl was brutally shot to death during a home invasion off of Jefferson and Lobdell.

This is the kind of attitude that had contributed to the situation we are in. The “it doesn’t affect me I don’t care” mindset. You know what? This city is bigger than you and it’s all interconnected. It may be all well and good today for you but what’s about a year from now? 5 years? What about your kids? How will it affect them? Sometimes You have to think beyond yourself if you catch my drift.

Yes, she is serious and from California.
She invest in inner city grocery stores.
Yes, she is a minority.
OT 4 or 4.5 body and big huge basketball twins. I thought about it a few times. I think my wife might get mad if I check her twins out further. We do go back along way as she helped finance my first hardware store.

She finds a location, need such as a grocery store in a underserved area, and a person who would like to eventually own the store from the community.

At first it is 100% her & a few investors money at first. Starts as she consults and has people come in to help the future owner run the store. Eventually she gets paid back, person who bought the store can function on their own, and she moves on to the next project.

There is a Value Sav or something like that on Elm and Evangline closing. The building is a nice size building for the community. It has the freezers, registers, and shelving at this time.
It is just a rough area to not lose your inventory to theft.

Obligatory comment -

If the street is named after a state, Indian tribe, or president, you don’t want to be there.

You can add trees, politicians, numbers, Main/Broadway, and civil rights activists to the list too.

I've been to high crime areas all over the country, and you pretty much know if you're on the corner of something like Elm St. and MLK Boulevard you're fricked

Or 12th street and Palm, Washington and Broadway, Sycamore and Main, Jefferson and Lincoln, etc.
